This is the End stars Seth Rogen as himself who’s planning a weekend for his friend Jay (played by Jay Baruchel as himself), who’s visiting L.A. for a few days. After spending some time hanging out, Seth decides to take Jay out to a party at James Franco’s house. Everything seems to be going well until people start floating up to the sky while there’s earthquakes and other weird things going on that could be signs of the apocalypse. Friday the 13th follows what the previous films have done but it tried some different things that I liked. Except instead of staying at the notorious Camp Crystal Lake, a group of teenagers are staying at some summer cabin, which is right by the camp so it’s different. Like the other movies, there’s a bunch of teenagers dicking around and partying. Meanwhile, Clay (Jared Padalecki) is searching for his sister, who went missing weeks ago. One of the teenagers from the cabin tries to help him even though it’s quite possible that she may be dead. The movie begins with the Enterprise crew run into trouble while being on a foreign planet. Spock (Zachary Quinto) ends up getting into some trouble, causing Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) to rescue him. After the mission, Spock turns in a report to Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), who isn’t very pleased. Spock and Kirk then have an issue about Spock’s lack of empathy and the fact he won’t be a team player. It plays a huge part in this movie and it was very effective. Benedict Cumberbatch is John Harrison, a criminal that the crew have to catch after he was linked to the bombing. Kirk and Spock have to then work together to catch him before he causes any other bad things happen. Daryl Pointer (Michael Keaton) is a cocaine addicted real estate agent who has a tragic incident occur after bringing a one night stand home. The woman happens to be unconscious from a drug overdose. The police suspect he was involved in the accident. Not to mention, he’s embezzled $92,000 from his company. Daryl is also addicted to lying and is willing to as much lying as he can to cover his own ass. In the meantime, he hides from the police in a rehab center. At first, he’s not willing to get with the program as he sees as just a temporary plan to what he thinks is a temporary situation. Morgan Freeman is the drug counselor who’s willing to help to get better. But Daryl has to first admit he has a problem. He finally tries to get better and does whatever he can to get sober. Ashton Kutcher is Tom, a weather reporter for the radio who has just gotten into a fight with his wife, Sarah (Brittany Murphy). Tom then goes to his radio job and tells the entire movie in a flashback about what happened on their honeymoon. Tom meets Sarah after hitting her in the head with a football because that’s hilarious! Right, everybody?! Get ready for a whole movie of that. According to this movie, they love each other. Personally, I think he just acts like an idiot and lies about her dog’s death. But Sarah thinks he’s spontaneous and amazing and good looking and whatever girls say to their mother because that’s what happens. Her father and the rest of her family except for her mom (whose nicknamed “Pussy�, which is a running joke in this movie.) don’t like him and constantly criticize her fiance. After the wedding, they travel to France for their honeymoon. Things end up going wrong and their marriage is soon in trouble. They spend most of their time making music and performing all around the country in a van. Their extremely religious mother Jeanette (Gena Rowlands) is disapproving of their lifestyle. Joe gets along with his mother and is forced to stand alone by her side even after she gets sick. Patti wants nothing to do with their mom since they can’t seem to agree on anything. Patti leaves Joe and her son behind and decides to join another band. Joe has trouble getting a job while also trying to take care of Patti’s son and their mother. Meanwhile, Patti is doing very well in another band as she tries to use music as an escape instead of actually trying to work out her problems with her family. Miles (Lenny Van Dohlen) is an architect who buys a computer to make his life easier and keep his work organized. He doesn’t quite like using the computer at first but he becomes used to it. It should also be noted that in this movie, it’s believed that your computer can be attached to all your appliances in order to control them. This plays a huge part later in the movie. Later, the computer gets doused in alcohol during an accident. As crazy as it sounds, this causes it to have a mind of its own. The computer known as Edgar (voiced by Bud Cort) develops feelings and absorbs knowledge from various TV shows and commercials. Meanwhile, Miles gets a gorgeous new neighbor named Madeleine (Virginia Madsen), who’s a cello player in the local symphony. After getting to know him, Madeleine starts falling in love with him. She also believes that he’s a talented musician after accidentally overhearing Edgar. For some reason, Miles hides the computer from Madeleine for no reason other than to move the plot along. Miles then gets Edgar to compose songs that he will claim as his own in order to impress her. Edgar also becomes increasingly lonely when he’s forced to spend a lot of time alone. He grows to fall in love with Madeleine and is upset that Miles used his songs to woo her. Due to the overwhelming feelings that he recently discovered, Edgar also tries to cause trouble for Miles. In Collateral, Jamie Foxx is Max, a taxi driver who lives a very typical and unchallenging life. Everything seems to be okay until he meets a mysterious passenger named Vincent (Tom Cruise) who offers to pay to have him for the whole night if Max takes to all these destinations so he can kill all these assigned targets. Max doesn’t want any part of it but he has no choice if he wants to get out of this alive. Soon, the police start investigating the dead bodies that Vincent leaves behind, causing them to believe that Max is behind it all. In the comedy Gung Ho, Michael Keaton is Hunt, an employee at an American automobile company who’s sent to Japan to meet with some businessmen who plan to take over the company. When the Japanese come to the small town of Hadleyville to save the struggling company, everyone is concerned about the changes that are being made and whether or not their job is still secure. Both the Japanese and American workers are unwilling to get along but he tries his hardest to make things work. The Japanese executive in charge of the plant Kazihiro (Gedde Watanabe) tries to do the best he can to run the company but a lot of the American workers are unable to get along. Hunt and Kazihiro find common ground and make sure that the company stays afloat and the workers stay efficient. Kazahiro was previously considered in his career after he was found being too lenient to his workers. Now given a second chance in his new position, he tries to be more stricter but some of his tactics don't go well with the Americans. If this new takeover doesn’t work out, the town loses one of their main resources for jobs, Hunt will be blamed for it, and Kazahiro will lose his job. In a movie I’m pretty sure everyone has seen at this point, a group of people go on an island during a preview tour of a new theme park. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) is the creator of the park and is enthused to opening the park to the public. Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), a paleontologist is asked to come along with his girlfriend Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern). Hammond is joined by his grandchildren, Tim (Joseph Mazzello) and Lex (Ariana Richards), who are also at the park. Tim is really obsessed with dinosaurs and really wants to gets know Dr. Grant since he’s a dinosaur expert and all. Little does Tim know that he hates kids and doesn’t want anything to do with them. Jeff Goldblum is Dr. Ian Malcolm, a mathematician and chaos theorist who’s also invited to the park. I could care less about anything science related but since it’s coming from Jeff Goldblum’s mouth, I’m willing to listen. A lawyer is forced to come to ensure the safety of the park after an employee is killed there. I used to think he was kind of a dick just because of how he talked to Tim about the glasses under the seat. But he’s a lawyer and he is just doing his job. Meanwhile, Nedry (Wayne Knight), a technician at the park gets a chance to solve his financial troubles if he steals some dinosaur embryos from the park and indirectly causes a lot of trouble for...[more]...

Mel Gibson and Danny Glover return as LAPD cops Riggs and Murtaugh, respectively, in this sequel because why would they put in other people in the roles? Anyway, in this one, Riggs and Murtaugh discover a smuggling ring. Chinese people are immigrating to America but they have to work as slaves for the Triads as compensation for bringing them to America in the first place. Murtaugh then decides to help out a family by having them living with his family to hide from the Triads. Meanwhile, Lee Butters, a young detective (Chris Rock) tries to get on Murtaugh’s good side. It turns out that Butters secretly married Murtaugh’s daughter and has to find the best time to tell him the news. Joe Pesci also returns as Leo Getz, who’s now working a private detective. He really doesn’t add anything to the movie other than scream and yell like he did in the first three movies. Even so, I didn’t mind seeing him again. Riggs and his girlfriend Lorna (Rene Russo) are having a baby and are thinking about marriage. Jet Li shows up as a negotiator for a major Chinese boss who also runs a Chinese restaurant. I enjoyed the first Hangover movie. It had a unique premise in addition to being very funny. When I heard there was a sequel, I was willing to see what they were going to do with it. The trailer looked good and I thought about going to the theater to see it. Then when I heard people say how bad it is, I steered far clear from this movie. Finally, I saw this movie on cable just because I was curious and enjoyed the first movie so much. Also before seeing it, I found an old interview completely by accident from Todd Phillips talking about this movie and he seemed so passionate about it. I thought the guy has to know what he’s doing so this movie can’t be that bad. Maybe not great but something resembling a passable movie. After seeing it, I have to say I’m grateful that I didn’t see it in the theaters...[more]...
