Review:

Pet Sematary was a good adaptation of the Stephen King novel that didn't need a sequel. Of course, horror movies that become successful are required by law to have a sequel so we have this movie that has the words "rushed" all over it. It is an incompetent and stupid sequel that is bogged down by a boring story and some bad acting.

Good: The setting is OK with it taking place during what seems like fall or early winter. It gives off a good vibe. Clancy Brown as the sheriff is clearly having fun with his role and is the highlight hands down. Some of the gore is pretty good as well.

Bad: First off, it is basically the same movie as the original although changing it from a child to a mother lessens the impact. The acting from Furlong and that other kid left much to be desired. This was released a year after Terminator 2 so Furlong was riding high off that film. Here he just broods and then suddenly makes an unconvincing change near the end that is laughable. His friend is the worst offender because he acted dumbfounded the whole time. In times when some emotion was needed (fear or sadness), he still had that dumb look on his face the entire time. It was either the director's choice for him or he's that awful. Speaking of directors, Mary Lambert (director of the original) obviously didn't have much passion here because this film felt cheap and rushed.

Overall, if a sequel had to be made, it should've been better than this. It is a slog to get through padded with pointless banter, repetitive scenes, bad acting, and nonsense plot twists.
