Review:

I'm going to keep this review short because there isn't much to discuss here. This is the fifth Pirates movie and there is barely any steam left. This entry is decent enough for a watch, but offers not much else to make it stand out from the other sequels.

Good: The cinematography was great and some of the action set pieces were fun. Kaya Scodelario brings some peppiness with her character. I like the design of Salazar with his ripped to shreds look and movements that make him seem like he is underwater.

Bad: It is hard for me to find anything extremely negative about it, but it is definitely forgettable. This one is the shortest movie in the series and it still dragged on for what feels like hours. Depp does his thing as Sparrow, but it lost its luster. Bardem is wasted as Salazar with an interesting backstory that doesn't bring much to the table. The effects were a bit on the weak side at times which is a shame because the other movies had some impressive effects. The addition of the British here leads to nothing so it is a waste of time. The addition of Brenton Thwaites in the story was again an interesting wrinkle, but he didn't sell it enough for me to care.

Overall, I'm not mad at this movie. It filled up time and offered me some light entertainment and that's pretty much it. The franchise is just stretching itself too thin and it clearly shows here.
