Plot: Key and Peele make a movie

Key and Peele are a great comedic duo as evidenced by their show and individual projects. They decided to star in a feature film and the results are fun yet feeling like it would have been better as a skit on their show.

Good: Key and Peele are funny together and their chemistry is the spark this movie has when it hits. They have fun poking holes into action movie clich├ęs and their mockery of typical gangsta characters was funny. The supporting cast does fine, but it is all about Key and Peele here because the movie would not had worked with those two out of the picture.

Bad: It ran out of steam quickly by halfway through the movie. It felt like a Key and Peele skit extended to feature length and it showed because the energy and jokes dropped heavily as it progressed. If it was just a 15 minute skit, it would have made its point and left before overstaying its welcome. The story kept moving forward in the action comedy mold we've seen other movies do and the parody started to fade in the background.

Overall, if you are a fan of Key and Peele, this is a solid watch as it delivers more on the duo's chemistry. It loses steam about halfway and it drags a bit to the finish (along with the jokes), but it remains a fun time for a rental.
