I want this Michael Bay to come back that made The Rock and Bad Boys not shit like Transformers 2. This is hands down Bay's best movie IMO although his filmography is nothing to rave about. The plot is simple yet interesting with added gravitas with the likes of Sean Connery and Ed Harris. Nicolas Cage and Connery's interactions together were great and played off each other perfectly. Ed Harris is not a foreign terrorist but a Marine general who is just looking out for his fellow Marines and will do so at any cost. Plus, with appearances from Michael Beihn and Tony Todd, this movie is filled to the brim with tightly paced action and good dialogue. The action scenes are edited quickly but unlike Transformers 2 where its 50 shots per millisecond. Not only is there action but there is also tension and suspense to put you on the edge of your seat. Definitely one of the best action movies of the 90s and possibly of 20 years.
Plot (8/10): Biological weapons, hostage situation involving Alcatraz and Marines, and huge explosions. What's not to like?
Acting (9/10): Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage both make this movie as entertaining as it is.
Action (9/10): Comes fast and dosen't let up until it reaches the end of the movie once the shit hits the fan.
Direction (8/10): Bay calms down and delivers an action movie that dosen't rely on stupid jokes, stereotypes, and crazy editing.
Eye Candy (8/10): Vanessa Marcil. Don't know who she is but she's hot.
Overall, definite viewing if you love 90s action movies like Con Air.

One of my all-time favorite action films. One of my all-time favorites, period. All those Cage and Bay naysayers can fuck-off when it comes between me and THE ROCK. I'll defend it till the day I die.
