Now here's a little unknown monster movie from the 90s that slipped by. Sure its cheesy and there is barely any plot but it delivers the monster goods once it gets going. The monster called the Kothoga is phenomenal which is a great word to describe it seeing Stan Winston did the animatronics. It gets really good by the third act with some gore, chase scenes and a great tunnel sequence. Other than that, the cast was good and did what was given for their roles.
Plot (5/10): The sciency stuff explaining the creature was interesting but that was the extent of the story.
Acting (6/10): Tom Sizemore when he had a stable career. He shows that he can be pretty good when he wants to. Penelope Ann Miller also did good as the babe scientist who as always wears glasses and put her hair up like "smart people do". Linda Hunt is always great to see in a movie.
Gore (6/10): There are maulings and blood but not much.
Direction (6/10): The cinematography is murky but the chase scenes are great to see.
Eye Candy (8/10): Penelope Ann Miller uses her brains and beauty to kill the beast.
Overall, it is an ok monster movie with a great monster stuck in a average movie.

God, they killed the book. The book is sooooooo good
