#19- my friends and I are massive Braveheart fans so naturally we watched The Patriot hundreds of time on DVD in high school... We were always in unanimous agreement that Gibson totally channeled some William Wallace during that epic scene.

Everything about it was perfect. Gibson's rage in that last bit mixed with the music. Fuggedaboutit.

MFC Halloween Survey

L
1. What animals are you afraid of?- Spiders, we have some in my neck of the woods that can seriously fuck you up when your asleep if your infested, probably even fatally.
2. Are you afraid of clowns?- Nope. Can't say that I am.
3. Are you claustophobic- Haven't really been in a situation where I can give you one answer or the other on that.
4. What urban legends scared you as a kid (or now)?- La Llorona. Countless friends mothers have told us that story while I stayed the night and we stayed up said nights scared shitless as kids.
5. Do you have any phobias?- I really don't. Which is weird.
6. What else are you afraid of- Home invaders. Watched some movies as a kid that maybe my mom shouldn't have let me watch as a kid and it's kinda stuck with me. I had to go to a child shrink over it awhile back it led to insomnia as a kid.
7. Do you believe in any cryptozoologic creatures?-I have an open mind
8. What movies scared you as a kid?- Nightmare on Elm Street. Dreams were a big deal to me as a youngin. So the premise to this franchise hit home lol
9. What movies scared you as an adult?- The Strangers. The ending of that movie fucked with me when I first saw it. It's the horror movies that are grounded in reality that get me these days.
10. Favorite Universal Monster- Dracula
11. Favorite fictional horror villain- Freddy Krueger. The son of a bitch gets shit done and taunts you while he does it.
12. Favorite real life serial killer- What a weird way to put the question but my mom is a Psych major who is interested in the mindset of serial killers and we've talked alot about the Zodiac Killer
13. Have you ever experienced the paranormal?- Me not personally. But many superstitious family stories have reached my ears. Stories that have freaked me out a little.
14. What would you do if you thought your house was haunted?- Invite my realtor over for dinner, handcuff them to the stairs kick em in their most private of situations then fucking bounce.
15. Are you superstitious- Like I said. I have an open mind. Never had any experiences personally but have heard stories that have gotten me curious.

Movies that I watched and couldn't stop thinking about for a long time post viewing.

Cinema_paradiso2
1. Gone Baby Gone: Ben Affleck's directorial debut personified movies that make you think. After the viewing in the theater me and my mom spent at least an hour discussing what we would do if were put into the shoes of Casey Affleck in the situation he had to confront in that movie. I wish more movies did this.
2. Requiem for a Dream: A stylized film showing us what drug addiction could do to a human beings soul. The first time I saw this it hit home because I had people close to me that were suffering through some pretty hardcore addictions. I saw it again recently and it still drop kicked me in the chest.
3. Cinema Paradiso: My favorite coming of age film. The tool to tell the story was the love of Cinema. Two generations of it even. It told the view to reach for what you want and never look back, just keep going forward. Who couldn't relate to that? And that end scene moved me to tears, perfect.
4. Brick: Here is the movie that made JGL one of my favorite actors working today. Loved the Noir feel, the movie had so much style and great performances from all involved that made the whole thing work. As a matter of fact I think it's time to watch it again.
5. Toy Story 3: I felt these toys were just as much mine as they were Andy's. Such a great story filled with great characters and plenty of touching moments. That incinerator scene was heavy and came out of nowhere. It was awesome. This trilogy will stay with me to infinity and beyond.
6. The Dark Knight: Now personally, I think Batman Begins was the superior film. But needless to say it was Heath Ledger's turn as the Joker and the themes that his character presented for our caped crusader that made this sequel stay with me. Simply awesome.
7. The Mist: This was a great horror movie on it's own. But add watching it in black and white just made it all the more better. And of course the climax grabbed me by the balls and refused to let go. And they STILL hurt.
8. Titanic: Once the shit the fan, er the iceberg rather...it was a sight to see.
9. Saw: The granddaddy of a lot of the horror films that have been thrown our way over the years. The story just had me hooked from the get go AND the payoff at the end was satisfying and spawned...well...you know the story.
10. Last Temptation of Christ: The Passion was a great film and everything, but this movie took a nose dive so much deeper into it's own story that it was hard not to be fascinated by what was going on. Good job Scorsese

The Ten Films That Shaped My Life , and turned me into the Movie Freak I Am

Lostboys1
1. Terminator 2: Judgment Day: As a youngster I put my family members through viewing after viewing of this movie that by now I'm sure they hate. But my love for this movie and how it made me feel as kid has never wavered and never will.
2. Good Will Hunting: This movie turned me on to how an actors performance and the dialogue given to then or improved can make a movie into a masterpiece without all the grandeur of a big blockbuster. I love it.
3. Jurassic Park: That first glimpse of the T Rex, nuff said.
4. The Lost Boys: This is just such a fun movie to watch every time. I had been on a Kiefer Sutherland kick before I saw this movie for the first time and when I eventually did it hooked me. The mystery surrounding the vampires is what pulled me in.
5. The Lion King: We all love disney, but this is the old school disney movie that I could never get enough of. Adored Rafiki
6. The Godfather: I watched this for the first time with my aunts boyfriend when I was a freshmen in high school and it turned me on to a whole world of mafia movies that I just fuckin love.
7. Goodfellas: Love the raw almost documentary feel this movie has. After watching Godfather so many times my dad told me you wanna see a movie about how the mob really is watch Goodfellas. I did. Then I hugged him afterwards.
8. Hook: Nostalgic childhood reasons, this movie fed my imagination for years.
9. Batman: When Tim Burton was kickin ass. Loved the whole atmosphere that his adaptions brought to the table.
10. The Breakfast Club: Another movie that managed to keep me entertained then and now with a bunch of shits discussing their teen angst. Any film that can pull that off is aces in my book.
11. Stand By Me: This, this really should be self explanatory

The 5 W's of 2010!

W
1. Who: Hit Girl from Kick-Ass- Such a bad ass little girl and Chloe Moretz portrayed her perfectly. "Shows over motherfuckers." More please.
2. What: The Time Machine in Hot Tub Time Machine-Come on let's face it. If we had a time machine to access any point in our lives, especially the 80's? Fuck Doc Browns paradox speech.
3. When: The future in the Book of Eli-If I had to imagine what the world would look like thirty years after it fucked itself, this movie picked my brain.
4. Where: China in Karate Kid-The movie was actually pretty good and the visuals of that country and the culture in it made the movie ten times better.
5. Why: Step-Up 3D-K, now this should be self explanatory.
6. Honorable Mentions: Who (The crew of Expendables), What (The train in Unstoppable), When (Robin Hood, sucker for period pieces), Where (Canada in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, cuz well yeah) Why (Eclipse, Killers, Vampires Suck, Marmaduke, Furry Vengeance...ok let me stop)

Highspeeds Top 10 Based on True Events!

1. Walk the Line: Huge Johnny Cash fan and I thought Joaquin portrayed the Man in Black wonderfully.
2. The Aviator: What a life that Howard Hughes had huh?
3. Goodfellas: Showed the true nature of the mafia after classics like The Godfather tried to humanize it somewhat. Martin Scorcese at his best.
4. Schindler's List: Just a fascinating story.
5. Ed Wood: Love movies about bizarre characters, especially then they actually existed.
6. Ali: Muhamed Ali is quite frankly one of my personal heroes and just like Walk the Line, Will Smith gave us an awesome portrayal of the Greatest.
7. Monster: I found out this was based on a real person after I watched it. It blew my mind. Charlize did a wonderful job it was so far removed to what we were used to seeing her do.
8. Apollo 13: Awesome cast. Awesome movie. Nuff said.
9. Boys Don't Cry: Tragic fucking story.
10. Capote: That Philip Seymour Hoffman I tell ya.
11. One that I'm looking forward to seeing: 127 Hours, the film about the mountain climber who got himself in a sticky situation and chopped his arm off to survive.

My top 10 movies based on novels

1. Jurassic Park: Everytime I watch this movie I'm reminded how much it blew me away when I was a little kid...I loved dinosaurs.
2. The Godfather: Loved the characters. Loved the story. I've read the book three times now and it inspired me to go read Puzo's other works.
3. Let the Right One In: I'm actually reading the book right now. The film definately did it justice. Here's hopin the new version doesn't fuck it up.
4. Fight Club: I just recently read the novel because I dug the movie so much. Definately glad I did.
5. The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford: The cinematography, music, and Casey Affleck made this film what it was. I read the novel it was based on about a year ago. Good read.
6. Gone Baby Gone: Probably one of the most thought provoking films I've ever seen. Story was awesome, the performances kicked ass. Haven't read the book yet, definately gonna pick it up soon.
7. Forrest Gump: Knock me over with a feather, I didn't know this film was based on a novel written by Winston Groom till about a year ago. So I went and picked the book up, and while it was alright this is probably the only instance where I thought the film was better.
8. Malcolm X: Denzel blew me away was Malcolm, I've read the autobiography two times.
9. Mystic River: Another awesome book written by Dennis Lehane turned into an awesome film. The actors really brought it to life.
10. Leaving Las Vegas: Nic Cage had me at his first drink.
11. Honorable Mention: HOLES, for a kids film it was alright. I just added this because I read it in my 8th grade reading class it must have been three times. I loved it.

Top 10 movie characters I wanna knock the fuck out!

1. Percy Whetmore (Doug Hutchison) in The Green Mile: This little shit perfectly embodied the douchebag character that hid behind powerful relatives. The way he got his in the film was brilliant.
2. Mrs. Carmody (Marcia Gay Harden) in The Mist: I don't condone violence to women, and if I met a woman like this in real life she better thank god that she didn't catch an eye jammy.
3. Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch) in Alpha Dog: Hirsch played the pathetic white kid tryin to play gangster to a T.
4. Steff McKee (James Spader) in Pretty in Pink: I was rootin for Ducky to kick his ass. Wish I could have been in the scene to back him up.
5. Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) in Back to the Future: Come on, we all know the reasoning behind this choice. Luckily he was owned plenty in the series.
6. Miklo Velka (Damian Chapa) in Blood In Blood Out: This guys ignorance baffled me. I spent a couple of my high school years livin in a rough neighborhood surrounded by guys who believed that gang life was the way to go just as much as this character did. Didn't help that the guy is a shitty actor.
7. Fernand Mondego (Guy Pearce)in Count of Monte Cristo ('02): Did everything you could do to fuck your best friend over. And he treated his son like shit. Reminds me of a lot of the scumbags I've known in life.
8. Lon Hammond, Jr. (James Marsden) in The Notebook: This is a special entry, because he's not an unlikeable guy. But I've been in a situation where me and a girlfriend have ended and they've moved on...and the guy she moved on to was actually pretty decent. It would make matters a whole lot easier if he were a douchebag.
9. Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington) in Training Day: Now I know this is Denzel and to me the performance was amazing, but he portrays a corrupt cop. And those actually do exist, and anybody who is put in that kind of position of power and exploits it deserve...well, close to what he got at the end of the film.
10. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) in AOTC and ROTS: *sigh*, they could have done a way better job developing a character that we would feel sorry for fucking up his life by killing everything he loved.

2. Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction-The diner scene (awesome acting)
3. Ben Affleck in Dogma- His rant against God (this monologue won my younger brother a lead roll in his school play)
4. Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman-At the hearing at the end of the film of course ("If I was the man I was years ago, I'd take FLAME THROWER to this place.")
5. Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting- The scene where he punks Will at the park. First time I saw it I went take that you little whiny bitch.
6. Jason Robards in Magnolia-The regret speech.
7. Michael Clarke Duncan in The Green Mile- His speech to Hanks in his cell at the end (gets me everytime)
8. Dennis Hopper in True Romance-The man knew what was coming and accepted it (so what do you do in that situation, diss a gangster Christopher Walken)

10. Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump-His speech at the grave site.
11. (Honorable Mention) Ben Affleck in Chasing Amy-Professing his love (it would take balls for a man to spit that out in a similar situation in real life.)
