A film critic is allowed to criticize a filmmaker's work, but a filmmaker is not allowed to criticize a film critic's work despite the fact that the filmmaker most likely knows more about both jobs than the film critic does.

Thank you. I wrote a blog about this on here. Blows my mind that a film critic does not do jack shit in the field of filmmaking but launches those opinions like they have a resume better than Spielberg's.

Actually there have been many movie critics who became directors and vice versa. Often times movie critics know more about the art of storytelling and filmmaking than the directors themselves, and it's been shown quite often. It's pathetic actually how many movie critics would make better directors than the ones working today.

In my opinion, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is the equivalent of the second half of Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN remake: A great story that was perfectly told thirty years previously, now pointlessly squished onto a smaller canvas.
