A fun haunted house/ creature feature. Peter Hyams directs based on the book. Hyams is a fine direct, that sometimes stumbles into stupid films (A Sound Of Thunder). Here though, he has a reasonably decent script, excellent lighting, and a solid cast of actors. While it won't win any awards, the creature, as created by the late, great Stan Winston still looks impressive, daunting, and very threatening.
