This is Crazy

This is very surprising to me. In fact, I am a bit upset by this news.

Read this article: http://gizmodo.com/5887808/everyone-wants-a-dumb-tv-after-all

What the bloody Hell?!!?

How in the FU*K could you not want a 3D HIGH DEFINITION TV in your house??? This is The Jetsons/Back to the Future, Part II happening RIGHT NOW!!! A TV that has the sharpest image yet (so sharp you find out Jennifer Connlley has gorilla arm hair and a mustache in DARK CITY?), can access the Internet to stream movies (eliminating the need to buy/have blu-ray/dvd players/discs [to my dismay]) and you can see those films in 3D (via OnDemand if you don't want to get a 3d Blu-Ray player) without those dime store red/green paper glasses? Ummmmm... FU*K! and YES! Please.

Fu*k's wrong with you 'Merica? >:o(

LoL... No disrespect to Ms. Connelly. It was a different time for her. She wasn't the big star she is now. All I'm saying is I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers then or now ;o)

As for the expensive equipment, I can understand that. But people not wanting to have all the bells and whistles that you can get from a tv nowadays is beyond me.

Where Did This Person Go?

Lucas1988

"American works of art belong to the American public; they are part of our cultural history. People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians... Today, engineers with their computers can add color to black-and-white movies, change the soundtrack, speed up the pace, and add or subtract material to the philosophical tastes of the copyright holder. Tomorrow, more advanced technology will be able to replace actors with “fresher faces,” or alter dialogue and change the movement of the actor’s lips to match. There is nothing to stop American films, records, books, and paintings from being sold to a foreign entity or egotistical gangsters and having them change our cultural heritage to suit their personal taste. The public’s interest is ultimately dominant over all other interests... Attention should be paid to the interest of those who are yet unborn, who should be able to see this generation as it saw itself, and the past generation as it saw itself."

Re: Sarah Michelle Gellar calling the new Buffy movie stupid w/o Joss.

SMG is right; a Buffy movie, tv series, whatever without Joss Whedon is nucking futs! If the Kazui's needed the money they should have sold the rights to Joss instead of the WB. Hopefully, the WB is being truthful about rebooting the film and are not touching the series. If a movie lends itself to being remade it's the Buffy movie. I wasn't that big a fan of it because of how it was messed up by the Kazui's.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Sp_1920x1200c_copy

Greetings All:

I'm just going to start; I love Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. It's flawless and another great effort from Edgar Wright. Yet, the film is not free of problems. There is a glaring issue that annoys me to no end; the Blu-Ray Disc's aspect ratio changes. When I saw the film, it was in the 2.35:1. But on the Blu-Ray it switches between 1.85:1 to 2.35:1 constantly. This is annoying as sh*t. I don't remember this aspect ratio manipulation when I saw the film in theaters, so I may be bitching about nothing. But it is still annoys me. So much so that I contacted Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Basically, I wrote the above but in a more formal way. Here is their response:

"Dear [film_geek],

Thank you for contacting us.

Our "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" Blu-ray and DVD releases were created from digital masters provided by the production company. The framing is as intended, and what you're seeing is a function of your TV's overscan specification.

If your television has a "Just Scan" mode, please try that instead of the "16x9" set up option.

We hope that you will continue to enjoy this and future Universal releases.

Sincerely,

Consumer Relations
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT"

After getting this brush off, I just said wtf and gave up.

So, my question to you is does anyone else have this issue? Did you see the film in 1.85:1 in theaters or 2.35:1 like I did?

I look forward to your responses.
