Ridley Scott was recently credited with the following quote:
"Superhero movies are not my kind of thing - that's why I've never really done one...[I've been asked] several times, but I can't believe in the thin, gossamer tight-rope of the non-reality of the situation of the superhero...cinema mainly is pretty bad...I hope it doesn't affect those of us who still keep making smart films."
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that is clear. I would prefer, however, that opinions were either simply stated without justification or, if necessary, at least justified with some intelligence. I do not have to agree with it but I can respect a soundly stated point of view. Sadly, Scott's commentary does not meet that bar. If he had ended with the first sentence I would have been sated but his subsequent justification caused me mental pain in its self aggrandizing pompousness.
Did he even watch Prometheus?
