Fresh off of episode 2 of the Fargo series, I decided to watch the movie again for the first time in years. It still holds up. And I love all of the neat references the show has included to the film thus far. Frances McDormand and William H. Macy own that flick. Anytime a character is rude to McDormand's character, my heart breaks a bit. Her one-sided conversation to the Marlboro Man in the end is devastating. It kind of reminded me of Tommy Lee Jones' opening monologue in No Country For Old Men. It seems the Coens have a thing for their protagonists to be dumbfounded by how dark, twisted and pointless people are to one another. 'Course, No Country had a lot to do with McCarthy and the source material. Still, it's food for thought.
