Review:

I hadn't seen this one in years, grabbed it on Blu Ray a while back and shelved it. Got around to watching it last night....surprisingly holds up pretty well, after all the flack that Michael Bay gets, you watch this one and realize that the man is capable of making an action flick with a story.

I miss Sean Connery. I understand he derserves his retirement and all, but like Gene Hackman you see movies like this and you wish ther were more like it. Also helps that they gave him every great line in the movie...

Nic Cage was also great, this movie came from a time where he made decent flicks...long before he turned into a cartoon character and signed up for any script that came along just for the paycheck.

The plot is surprisingly well thought out for an action movie, every plot point in the movie has a reason, no loose ends and the supporting case was excellent. Sure the action is a bit over the top and sometimes defies the laws of physics, but hey..it's Michael Bay!!!

The Blu Ray was excellent, certainly doing this movie justice. The colors were excellent and the detail in the rocks and action was excellent. A pretty flawless disk at the price...

Overall, I forgot how much I loved this movie. Sure it has it's flaws, but it a pretty damn entertaining ride. Now that I finally own it, I'll certainly be checking it out more often....

This was a must buy for me on Blu and about shelving films I must have over 50 which I'm just waiting for the right time to watch.

It's weird to see The Rock and Bad Boys today because of how different the directing style is now compared to something like Transformers. It's grounded and controlled. Almost doesn't feel like a Bay film.

Still his best film IMO
