Re-watched Beyond the Mat for documentary film class.
Great doc about wrestlers and their lives outside of the ring. Both encouraging and plain sad. Jake "The Snake" Roberts I can swear is probably an inspiration for Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" Roberts' life is even more depressing than Randy the Ram's

The fact that this is Oldman's first nomination says it all for me. The academy doesn't get it right often enough. Fuck em'

just noticed you did this. cant argue with your top 3. those were all really good in their own way.

This sounds like an ideal Thanksgiving! Have a great time, and CHEERS!! :-)

Already seen Tinker Tailor, very well made with great acting, a little slow but still goood. Looking forward to 4 most.

#5: Planes are ok because I feel safe in planes, but other forms of heights scare me.
Oh yeah, I forgot about heights for me as well... And much like you I have absolutely no problem with planes, I love to fly, but when I stand on a ladder all of a sudden I'm terrified

What I love about Corruption besides the Art Design (which the Prime series as a whole, has some of the best art design in Gaming) was that it mixes it up differently from the other 2 Prime titles with it's story, the pacing, the levels...
...and it's got THE BEST FPS controls on a dedicated console. Corruption was the game that convinced me that Pointer Controls are the best FPS controls AFTER the PC/Mouse combo.
Metroid Zero Mission is just as good as fusion and I think you can like share a code or something once you've beaten both

That was a really hard choice. To be honest, I could have thrown 2 more Pokemon games in there. I played the hell out of Blue and Gold. I didn't want to put too many Pokemon games in there. I figured 1 of each of the first 2 generations would do.

COULD NOT AGREE MORE with The Wire season 4. Season 4 was absolutely the best arch ever for television.
Yeah. It's required when you're getting into Photography. I do Digital for hired or newspaper assignments but I LOVE doing B&W film photos with the Film Camera.

A Serious Man is one of the darkest comedies I've ever seen. Enjoyed it, but def NOT for everyone
I love it. It's really dark stuff but it's still loaded with that Coen Bros. dry humor. I also dug how they relate with the Book of Job and Schroedinger's theory.

Agreed on the list, but I would have Half-Blood and Goblet trade places. Phoenix sucked ass. lol. Chamber was a little darker than the first and I liked the creatures in it. Half-Blood was good only for the interesting characters, dialogue, and cave sequence. Goblet brought the epic into the franchise. Can't beat Azkaban though!

I'm iffy on Regan because it wasn't really her but the demon inside her.
@WA: I'm not really sure either...is it Regan or the demon Pazuzu then? Any time I see people talk about The Villain from the Exorcist, I've always seen the reference as Regan.

A very similar list to mine. Finally someone has picked Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I was beginning to feel I'm the only one excited for this flick. I'm not huge on Harry Potter (I will see it) but other than that very nice.

P.S. I have Zelda only in the Honorable Mentions because I already love what I've seen of it and all I need to know is when it's release date is. Nintendo pretty much has my $50 already for that game.

#5 Yes, Homer is everyone's dad to some extent. He is every American to some extent.
#10 You remember the modern classics. That's outstanding.

GREAT album. Kamen's orchestrals blended PERFECTLY with the always amazing songs of Metallica!
It's THE album that got me into metal and rock music in general. And certainly into Metallica. While their older stuff is superior, I love the S&M album to death. Kamen did an amazing job in the album.

Trust me. They are. Flour Pancakes with different meat and cheeses stuffed into them is the easy way to describe them. SO DAMN GOOD. Especially when you eat them with the shredded cabbage dipped in oil and salsa. It's heaven.

example of the difference in ratings Speed wasn't R rated in Aussie/NZ it was a m which any one can go too.

I hate being refered to as Dougie, and anyone who does it is getting a punch in the chops.
10. - FUCK yeah!
14. - Almost put this on my list, those ghosts would be awesome! Unlike the ones in say, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY...

Yeah The Neville Bros. one is awesome, wish it was longer.
1. Tom Waits
2. Neville Bros.
3. Blind Boys
4. DoMaJe
5. Steve Earle

5 over 1? I don't know, season 5 was all over the place and 1 paved the way. But season 4 is definetely the best season. And if you like The Wire you should check out Southland.
I might have to re-watch S1 but I found myself really enjoying S2 more than I figured after the slow build up for the 1st 4 or so episodes.
That is the highest I've ever seeen Season 2, most people put it in the bottom 2. Then again, ranking them is like saying which $100 bill you found on the ground is your favorite in order!

I just bought Exit Through The Gift Shop last week. gonna watch it soon. hopefully see Black Swan pretty soon as well.

I could never get past the first damn level on that game.
Though I was able to beat all of the Super Star Wars games. Oh man those were awesome.
Metroid, Zelda, Super Mario World & Donkey Kong are my faves... Im a complete Nintendo loyalist. Other personal favorites are Castlevania IV (another great game with a great soundtrack) and Zombies ate my neighbors

Awesome, I have the original game boy, a gameboy advance, the gamecube, PS2, N64 and a Mac G3 (does it count??)
All the consoles you see on this list I still have in working order, including my Genesis too. If I get really bored, sometimes I'll still hook up my old systems to play some old games again.

Congratulations on creating the most ingenius top 5 of all time. I'm jealous I never thought of it.

This pretty much IS my list. Order of the Phoenix was a great book, massive but impossible to put down. The movie was too rushed.

X-Wing over the Falcon and Slave I? What about the Death Star?
It's cool you didn't go for the SW staples but I am a fan of the Slave I's quick and easy, no-nonsense, room for one style of transport ;p

I like PREDATOR 2 as well, it's just another story and doesn't take away anything from the first by revealing anything stupid like some sequels do.
Predator 2 is at least better than AVP-Requiem but that isn't saying much, mind you. I feel that the last act comes together but the rest is just not necessary, all that "urban jungle" nonsense. I maintain that it was a wasted opportunity and could have been a far better movie. I blame the script.
Amen, brother. QUANTUM OF SOLACE ftw.
While I can't agree with you on BE KIND REWIND, I'm a big fan of all of the other flicks on your list.

Great list! I love most of these films also, especially BTTF and Sunshine.

Nice list, I would of put The Man With No Name Trilogy on mine somewhere.
@tbondrage: That's a great one. I've only seen one film from the trilogy (A Fistfull of Dollars) sadly so I couldn't put it up there.

I don't usually watch a lot of cop shows but I really dig Criminal Minds as well.

That is 100% exactly the same as a list I would make, nothing comes close to UP for me, such a moving film.
Good call on The Incredibles too. I think alot of people over rate it myself.

My reasoning here was for non-human speaking creatures. The Zombies and Frankenstein are a stretch but it was difficult to exclude them. Frankenstein barely speaks at least.
I like this list. The Birds scared the shit out of me when I was little.

I thought of him while making this list but he never quite scared me as deeply as the ones above. It's usually the somewhat more realistic, more grounded characters that get to me (with the exception of Regan, Orlok and Michael who had more supernatural elements to them)
Sorry. Gotta put in my vote for #1. Paul Walker... in anything. Now, that's Scary!

Jaws gets way too much love, I don't see how it can be classified as "horror". I fucking hate Jaws. Nice list otherwise though.
Why the Jaws hate? Jaws has elements that are closer to it being a straight horror than a normal thriller.
I never got Dead Alive. I've watched it twice and it's just way too out there and not scary to me. Not that it would be on my top 10 either, but I actually liked The Frighteners better of the Peter Jackson horrors. The Thing though... Absolutely! Nice list.

Some day, I'm going to pick up a nice old 27" Sony CRT and set it up specifically for first gen console gaming (SNES, PSX, Sega, Dreamcast).
Them Ima gonna get me a copy of Earthbound WITH the awesome player's guide off eBay (expensive but methinks worth it) and play all day!
@randy: lol awesome!. The 1st time I did it I had no clue what I was doing.
@girlcreeture: I still have most of old consoles except the NES. I bought my SNES at Funcoland back in 02. I would love to play Earthbound on a console and play it in it's original way.

I'll note this: True Grit skyrocketed in my list after today's amazing trailer. I always had my eye on it but wondered why we heard nothing for so long. This amped up my interest and excitement after I was worried Grit might not even come out this year. I love the Coen. Bros enough that the trailer got me THAT amped for their film.
Oh and December looks amazing, with Black Swan, Tron and True Grit all due in December.
Nice. I need to check out The Tillman Story. My top 5 would consist of your 1,2,3,8,9 I know that. Not in that order though.

Ocelot: I preferred MGS 2 to 3. I liked 3 a lot but it didn't floor me like 2 did. I'm never going to forget it, even with it's convoluted storyline.
jekupa: Still playing through it right now. It's damn good from what I've played but so far, I'll wager Portal stays on the list. I'll see how it is though once I finish it.

I've been geeking out on Inception... watched the new trailer a few too many times...
Tell me about it man. I'm scared (and really excited) that Nolan is going back to his Memento days but with a bigger cast and a colossal budget.
I've heard Tree of Life was close to being finished but not 100% and as such, got pushed to 2010. That #10 is tentative cause Malick works at a very slow pace.
My kind of list
