got to see THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS today. Great film but still dwelling on it a bit. Also very happy because I nabbed The Life Aqauatic with Steve Zissou (Single-Disc), Time Bandits and Z, from the Criterion Collection, for 1/2 price at Barnes & Noble.
The more I thought about the film, the more I realized how good it was. I'm not sure what rating I could give it but it's certainly high. It felt so pitch-perfect, even with the trademark Gilliam insanity towards the end of the film.
I just watched The Life Aqautic the other day, and remember why part of me thinks it's his best work. There are so many layers to that film, and ti's just so well crafts - plus the jokes are great. I'm glad to hear about Imagiunarium! I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it really does look fantastic.
"tis just so well crafts" - that was gangsta talk, not a typo
I just finished The Life Aquatic. I liked it but I'm not sure what to make of it completely. It's a similar feeling I got with Parnassus actually where I have a good feeling some aspects and little things flew by my head, but I saw enough to like the film. I do feel compelled to see it again so hopefully it runs better this time. It's a gut feeling I have with some movies also, like Big Lebowski, which got better with re-watches.
"tis just so well crafts" - hahaha
You saw PARNASSUS already? You lucky bastard!
Great to hear that you liked the film. I can't wait to see it.

I loved Imaginarium!
