So, Michael Mann's Red Dragon adaptation - Manhunter (1986)
I really enjoyed it, the film is visually really good and I liked the 80s style, and having already seen Red Dragon, I knew the characters and story should be more or less the same. The cast is excellent. William Peterson as FBI profiler Will Graham is the lead, though Edward Norton's interpretation of the character was equally fine. Tom Noonan is especially good in this, and horribly chilling, he hasn't scared me since I was a kid watching 'The Last Action Hero', so it was nice to catch up. Both him and Ralph Fiennes, have played Francis Dolarhyde and can't say who is the better "The Tooth Fairy" both played the character very convincingly. Brian Cox is a fantastic actor, It was weird seeing him as Hannibal Lecter and It may be unfair to compare him to Anthony Hopkins, as the role in this film and Red Dragon (2002) is a small one, also this film isn't about him, so lets stop talking about the good Doctor. Manhunter on the whole is a solid crime thriller, but if you're like me and seen the films after this first, then it might feel a bit weird on the first viewing and honestly think it deserves to be looked at as not part of the Hannibal franchise, but as it's own film.
