Is it possible The Avengers could be better than TDKR just due impossibly high expectations for TDKR? I mean, with Marvel's track record, I think we can all expect a good, entertaining, action packed movie as per usual, but with TDKR I think we're expecting the next coming of Christ. Or is that just me?
Yeah, my expectations aren't quite that high for TDKR. Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to it. I just don't let myself get quite that jazzed about any movie I haven't seen yet. Helps to temper expectations.
Yeah I'm WAY more hyped for Avengers than I am for TDKR. I just feel like i have a lot more invested in Avengers. I've been looking forward to it since Nick Fury showed up in the first Iron Man talking about the Avengers Initiative, as well as the other 4 MARVEL STUDIOS movies that followed, all building up to this one film. 5 years, 5 movies in the making.
I'm absurdly excited for both of them, but I'm not expecting either of them to be amazing. I'm expecting entertainment, and if I get more, then WOOOOO!
I have a lot more invested in TDKR to be honest. I've loved every twist and turn in Nolan's films. The Avengers has been built up nicely but I'm very fascinated to where TDKR will go. I think TDKR will be more dramatically compelling while The Avengers will be the crowd pleaser of the summer.
I mean it's all subjective. Different people will think different movies are better.

Uh.....just you.
