Quick thoughts on the Dark Shadows trailer
I'll be honest I'm not too familiar with the Dark Shadows television series. I remember seeing an infomercial selling volumes of VHS tapes which showed some brief clips of the show and I remember Quentin Tarantino drunkenly rambling about it once on The Tonight Show.
But anyway, after watching the trailer, I have to say, it looks pretty good. It looks like a return to form of the classic Tim Burton style. A quasi fish-out-of-water concept and flawed characters fucking around in the purest kind of form of black comedy. I'm intrigued.
And Johnny Depp as a vampire. Has he ever played a vampire before? I don't know. But that just makes sense. He must have been happy as a pig in shit playing this role.
You can say what you want about Tim Burton but the guy does what he likes and knows what he's good at and does stuff he has interest in and still has a passion for the odd. I have to admire that.
