I'm so tired of The Hunger Games being compared to Battle Royale. Not necessarily here, but all across the net. Give it a rest. Everything you ever loved was inspired by something that came before it, it's the nature of inspiration.
Battle Royale, Lord of the Flies, Logan's Run, Running Man ... all of which are great in their own way. There ain't nothing wrong with borrowing ideas so long as you do enough with them to make them your own. I think The Hunger Games does more than enough to set itself apart from the ideas that came before it.
Not to mention Hunger Games and Battle Royale are two completely different stories. I hate it when people compare movies that only have like one or two elements/aspects/themes in common but nothing else and war over it...
The same could be said for Avatar about the "Dances with Wolves" comparisons. It's all in the execution, not the idea.
Agreed. You could argue Battle Royale was influenced by Running Man.
