Oct 1st- HATCHET II --- I'd still say the original is a bit better, but this sequel offered plenty of great kills and I really liked the ending. The only downer is the beginning gets bogged down by a familiar back story from the first one that is brought back, just more in depth. --- 7/10
Oct 2nd- THE FLY (1986) --- I thought the effects were great for an 80's film and Jeff Goldblum gives an oustanding performance. The Fly doesn't really turn into a "horror" film until the third act, where it gets a bit creepy. --- 8/10
Oct 3rd- FRONTIER(S) --- it feels like a lot of other films we have all seen, it reminded me a lot of the remake of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. It has some intense sequences and a badass third act. The dining room scene was easily my favorite part of the movie. I recommend this to any horror/revenge fans. --- 9/10
Oct 4th- MONSTERS --- I was expecting Cloverfield 2 and it was far from that. I was hooked for the first 15 minutes then after that I completely lost interest. I thought it was very boring and didn't really like the characters that you follow throughout the whole film. I will give the director some props for making it on a $15,000 budget though. --- 4/10
Oct 5th- ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE --- A simple slasher film with a twist. It has the whole high school vibe going, but in a pool of slashers, it doesn't stand out as anything special. Oh yeah, Amber Heard is pretty hot. --- 6/10
Oct 6th- AUDITION --- I did not love this by any means. I thought it was a little slow and took a long time to get to where it needed to be. The story was good, a little odd, but good. The third act was it's strongest point and the film definitely had some grotesque images to go along with it. --- 7/10
Oct 7th- MY SOUL TO TAKE 3D --- Lame kills, lame effects, lame 3D, lame killer, lame characters, lame jokes, mediocre twist. --- 2/10
Oct 8th THE HILLS HAVE EYES remake (re-visit) --- First off, I love the opening scene. The whole trailer torture sequence is so messed up; seriously. I know it's a movie, but I couldn't imagine going through something like that. I like the ending and think the director has got some talent. --- 8/10
Oct 9th- BLACK CHRISTMAS (original) --- I thought it was pretty good for a 70's horror film, but I wasn't amazed. The killer is creepy and I like the way they portrayed him. The ending was real solid. --- 7/10
Oct 10th- CABIN FEVER 2: SPRING FEVER --- Although it feels like more of a spoof of the original, I didn't think it was that bad for a direct to DVD sequel. The characters were complete stereotypes of a high school crowd and it was a bit cheesy. I did think it was rather funny and was still pretty entertaining. --- 5/10
Oct 11th - RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE --- This is sci-fi horror right? Well, it's got zombies in it, so it can be considered a horror film. I don't think this is as bad as everyone says it is and it may be my favorite one in the whole series (from what I can remember). As an action film, I thought it pretty good. There was some sweet action sequences and a lot of Milla Jovovich kickin' some zombie ass. The bad acting and overuse of slo-mo can be forgiven (some of the slo-mo was done tastefully.) If they decide to make a sequel, I am sure I'll be in the theater for that one as well. --- 7/10
Oct 12th- SESSION 9 --- This film definitely took it's time to get rolling, but once it did, I was hooked. It may be better on a rewatch because It gives you a lot more to think about than just your average horror movie. As for Brad Anderson, the director, I think I like Transiberrian more and I still need to watch The Machinist. Either way, I think he's got some talent and will be looking forward to any of his upcoming projects. --- 6/10
Oct 13th- THE THING --- The effects were great and I can't believe this was from the 80's. A great classic horror film that is genuinely creepy. The cast was great as well as the score. I really need to get caught up on some John Carpenter. --- 10/10
Oct 14th- THE LOVED ONES --- One of the best films of 2010 and one of the best horror films I have ever seen. The girl in it is fantastic and plays one of the most psychotic women on screen that I have ever seen. It was highly entertaining and kept going to places I wouldn't even imagine. The torture sequences were better than anything I have seen from the Saw franchise. The ending was pretty great too. I LOVED THE LOVED ONES. ---10/10
Oct 15th- CHILD'S PLAY --- I hadn't seen this since I was born so i figured I would revisit it. The origin of Chucky is a bit much, but I can forgive that. The doll has a nice blend of humor and creepiness. The little boy is excellent in this too. --- 7/10
Oct 16th- HOUSE OF WAX --- Well first off, Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert are two fine looking ladies in this. I thought the characters were a bit weak and it was a little too long for a run-of-the-mill horror film. I did like the climax and thought the town/townspeople were creepy enough to keep my attention. Some bits were also a bit cliche and not very believable, but I can forgive them for trying. --- 7/10
Oct 17th- HORROR OF DRACULA --- I have no other 'Dracula' films to compare it to, but I did still find the story engaging despite it's flaws. I thought Christopher Lee did a good job of being Dracula; I just would have liked to see him have a bit more screen-time. I did also like the ending; I thought it was very climatic. I don't really like the cheesy music or stage-like acting. --- 4/10
Oct 18th - THE DESCENT (revisit) --- I mainly watched this again for the ending I never saw. This has to be one of my favorite horror films of all-time. The Descent bulids great suspense and uses very little lighting and space to create a feeling of entrapment. The use of the camera and the effects are great as well. I'm glad the director didn't
try and make CG creatures. --- 9/10
Oct 19th- JOHN CARPENTER'S HALLOWEEN --- I waited too long to see this film. First off, the camera work and music are so effective. There are so many little details and effects that Carpenter used to really make something great out of nothing. It's great to see a horror film be creepy without the overuse of blood or special effects. I love scene when Annie gets into the car to go get Paul. So great. --- 10/10
Oct 20th- INSIDE --- This has to be one of the most brutal films I have ever seen. The kills were great and there was nothing sympathetic about it. The title of this movie should have been THERE WILL BE BLOOD. Jesus Christ. I liked the reveal and the ending a lot too. --- 8/10
Oct 21st- THE VILLAGE --- I think M. Night gets too much hate. I loved the idea of it, even though it suffered from being a little slow. The "twists" all worked for me and I wasn't let down by the ending. --- 9/10
Oct 22nd- PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 --- I like where they went with this one and thought it was cool how they kept it a secret until it was released. It's a lot liked the first one and uses the same tricks to scare the auddience, but it still works. I still prefer the original just because I didn't know what to expect. --- 6/10
Oct 23d- MY BLOODY VALENTINE (original) --- Even though I saw the remake first, I still found this one quite enjoyable. It was nice to see the twist being something different then the remake. I would say it's better than FRIDAY THE 13th, but not as good as HALLOWEEN in terms of classic slashers. --- 8/10
Oct 24th- CABIN FEVER (re-visit) --- What a shitty situation. Cabin Fever is a fun and effective horror film that pays tribute to such classics like Evil Dead. I love the fact that Eli Roth made himself not only one, but two characters in the film. Oh, and that shaving scene makes me cringe like no other! I thought it was highly entertaining and a great debut for Mr. Eli Roth. I need to buy the director's cut blu ray now. --- 9/10
Oct 25th- THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (original) --- The whole "leather face" family is so creepy and one of the most disturbing families I have ever seen in film. There are some great chase sequences and for it being so old, still captured my attention incredibly well. I can't decide if I like the remake more or not --- 9/10
Oct 26th- MARTYRS --- The story itself was more intriguing than the actual film itself. The first half was very intense and had a good twist/reveal to it. The last half was drawn out and somewhat anti-climatic. I did like the very end, but all the torturing seemed a bit unnecessary. --- 6/10
Oct 27th- THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE- A great revenge flick with horror elements. It felt a lot like THE ORPHANAGE and PAN'S LABYRINTH, but was still original on it's own. 8/10

I thought the remake was terrible...maybe I'll swap it out with something else. I forgot to put Pontypool on this list...I still wanna check that out.
