WTF happened with Mockingjay?! Catching Fire was so good. It felt awkward, uneven and downright cheesy in certain parts. Gotta fix that shit before Pt. 2

For the love of Horror, HTF does a movie like Ouija make nearly ten times it's budget?! What is wrong with the horror fans of today?! For crying out loud Witchboard was more entertaining than this bag of regurgitated tropes and generic storytelling and acting. Please STOP SPENDING your money on crap like this.

People go to the theater to see a movie without knowing if it's good or not so it's not like they purposely spent money on a bad film. Lot of people go to the theater to see horror films during October and this is what was out this year.

What a wonderful, wonderful movie! Chef is one of those flicks that you leave feeling good about life in general. Written and Directed by Jon Favreau. Those of you who don't know who he is... shame on you a little bit, you'll probably remember him as Happy Hogan from the Iron Man movies (he also Directed 1 and 2). You could tell this movie was a personal story for him...[more]...

The Purge: Anarchy

Written by: James DeMonaco
Cast: Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo
Studio: Universal Pictures
Genre: Horror
Official Site:
Plot: A young couple works to survive on the streets after their car breaks down right as the annual purge commences.

Review:

The first Purge film was entertaining, albeit flawed. The premise; one day where we are allowed to commit any crime conceivable, to 'purge' ourselves, is a ridiculous one, but entertaining no less...[more]...

Review:

Very quickly. If you saw Rio(Pt 1), what is the thing you remember most fondly? Besides Nigel's signature laugh. I bet you answered the music. I loved it so much I downloaded the soundtrack. Alas, lightning doesn't strike twice and as much as I wanted to, the music this time around just wasn't as good...[more]...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Studio: Sony
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comic Book
Official Site:
Plot: Peter Parker runs the gauntlet as the mysterious company Oscorp sends up a slew of supervillains against him, impacting on his life

Review:

Ask anybody who knows me. I LOVED the first Amazing Spiderman movie. I thought Andrew Garfield did and amazing job (he he), and while I still enjoyed what Sam Raimi did with his Spidey movies, Tobey Maguire was never my favourite. So I was really excited to see TAS2, that is, until I saw the trailer. It was a mixed bag of good and what looked god awful, so it made me wary of the sequel. Now that I've seen it, was it any better? Short answer, hmmmmm. Let's break it down...[more]...

Review:

Let me start by saying, this movie has been really, really successful. While it’s no Lego Movie, people seem to really enjoy it, and it currently holds a 7.3 out of 10 on IMDb. Sorry to say, I’m not one of those people. Let’s break it down...[more]...

Dom Hemingway

Dom-hemingway-poster-new

Directed by: Richard Shepard
Written by: Richard Shepard
Cast: Jude Law, Richard Grant, Demian Bichir, Emilia Clarke
Studio: Fox Searchlight Pictures
Genre: Crime, Drama
Official Site:
Plot: After spending 12 years in prison for keeping his mouth shut, notorious safe-cracker Dom Hemingway is back on the streets of London looking to collect what he's owed.

Review:

Another movie that is character and not story driven. Dom Hemingway, played by Jude Law is supposed to be another entry into the usually always awesome world of British gangster films. Unfortunately, this is one of the most unlikable, loud and boorish characters I’ve ever seen and with a premise that is as weak as watered down soy sauce (sorry, I’m craving sushi, while writing this),Dom Hemingway is a forgettable film and certainly won’t help Jude Law get back on the A-List anytime soon.
Points for style and some witty dialogue. Other than that, with the exception of actor Richard Grant who plays Dom’s best friend Dickie Black (a friend he doesn’t deserve at all), everyone else is window dressing. I was so excited when I saw Emilia Clarke’s name pop up, only to realize it was a thruway role as Dom’s daughter that you’re supposed to care about their strained relationship and you really don’t
Dom Hemingway isn’t really worth your time, unless you want to see a beefed up Jude Law with some interesting facial hair and some seriously over the top acting.

Bad Words

Poster-bad-words

Directed by: Jason Bateman
Written by: Andrew Dodge
Cast: Jason Bateman, Allison Janney, Kathryn Hahn, Philip Hall
Studio: Darko Entertainment
Genre: Comedy
Official Site:
Plot: A spelling bee loser sets out to exact revenge by finding a loophole and attempting to win as an adult.

Review:

Take note CHEAP THRILLS, this is how you do dark comedy! A near perfect movie, with a simple premise that has a much deeper motive acted out with perfection by the always funny, and smart Jason Bateman

With the exception of Sam Rockwell, there is no one else I could think of, that could possible deliver these can of hilariously crass and biting one-liners, the way Jason Bateman can. Besides Arrested Development, you will probably remember him from Horrible Bosses. Here he plays Guy Tribly, a man who inexplicably enters a children’s Spelling Bee competition. While using his wits (in a very evil and funny way), to destroy his kiddie competition, he makes friends with a young Indian boy named Chopra, played by Rohan Chand. This kid is so likeable it’s ridiculous. He’s sweet and funny but he also never lets anything Guy tell him, get him down. This begins to wear on Guy and as much as he doesn’t want to, he likes Chopra. Sounds straightforward enough, until you realize Chopra isn’t as sweet as he appears.

Bad Words was truly enjoyable and while I’m aware, there are people out there who won’t enjoy it. Also, the pacing does suffer a bit in the third act. Either way, I really liked this movie a lot and I highly recommend it. If not for the truly awesome insults and jokes, then check it out for some truly out there spelling word choices.

Official Site:
Plot: In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) - a loving husband, father and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.

Review:

Let me start by saying, while I loved the original Robocop (which holds up really well), I wasn't a huge fan. My brother on the other hand worships this guy, the way some people do Batman, so I went to see this with him...[more]...
