I know most of you think I'm an asshole on here for my severely differing political views and my blunt honesty, however I saw Manchester by the Sea over the weekend and holy shit what a depressing, haunting film. Definitely a must see.

I'm looking forward to seeing that, glad you enjoyed it. :)

The elite Hollywood left and their self masturbatory speeches (Streep for example) shows why Trump won.

RIP Carrie Fisher, not only an iconic actress but a huge advocate for mental health.

I love the tributes to Carrie Fisher. Each one recognizes her greatest role, as it should. However, each tribute then celebrates how the actress was so much more Leia.

Can't wait to see Silence. Early reactions are it's very good unless you are opposed to Catholicism and/or white males.

Silence looks interesting, and it is almost assuredly well-made.

Good for the British people reclaiming their sovereignty and hopefully the collapse of the EU follows now that one of the major economies proping it up has left.

Time to eat crow. I spoke out against the batman vs superman reviews. But after seeing it such a disappointment. Besides Gal Gadot there wasn't anything I found worth anything in the movie. Which sucks because I love Zack Snyders work, hopefully this was a case of too much studio interference.
CrazyHick updated his STATUS: 11 months ago

I haven't seen Batman v. Superman yet, and before stating this I am a Marvel fanboy. But, if I was Zack Snyder I wouldn't give a shit what the critics said. The audience reaction and thought is what matters.

I'm glad Leo won an Oscar. But it's a little hypocritical for him to talk about climate change when the dude owns four mansions and a fucking yacht.

Actually Leo has done more good for climate change with monetary donations, funding projects, and spreading the word than most people on this planet. It's actually quite amazing if you really look into everything he has done and continues to do for this planet.

So it's a do what I say not as I do thing? Don't get me wrong it's cool he's done that other stuff, but I still think with his yachts, private planes, mansions etc, his carbon footprint is probably one of the biggest in the world.

If I have never watched The X-Files would I be able to jump in with this season or should I start from the beginning?

I'm in the same boat, seen the movie but thats it. Nine seasons is a lot to go through. I would say, it's always best to start from the beginning.

I loved The Force Awakens. No spoilers, but I felt like a kid filled with a sense of awe and wonder. Was it the best, no. I still place 4 and 5 above, but it was a phenomenal entry to the saga and Poe, Finn, and Rey, especially, give us some phenomenal characters going forward.

Prayers for Paris. I hope the world will eventually understand Islam is a genocidal cult as is shown time and time again.

Well, I shall offer two true replies. Make of them what you will.

For one thing, I understand your (out)rage. And, I believe that violence might be necessary in reaction to Paris and other atrocities over the last decades. I believe that silencing and regulating certain voices might be necessary. Islamic extremists are unwilling to use diplomacy and reasoning. Instead, they use violence like animals. In turn, their targets (e.g. France, the U.S.) might need to use great violence (animalistic reaction) themselves. It is the "language" that terrorists understand and respect. Military and police action is often called "the diplomacy of last resort".

On the other hand, I see potential hope and peace and a great light. And, I see the possibilities for these things in the media, the arts (e.g. movies--of which Schmoes are all fans), and education. You see, like anyone, I have certain words by which I live. One such phrase is "Remember, even the Devil can quote Scripture to serve his purposes." Islamic extremists are doing exactly that. They are inviting the demonic (i.e. that which divides; originally, 'demon' meant 'that which divides'; check the etymology) into their causes, and they are spreading the demonic from there.

However, these extremists are presenting and creating the same abomination that Christians--whether Catholic or Protestant--have infamously done on occasion over the last five hundred years (and before). These people believe their cause just and necessary, and they then use whatever means to attain it. For, they believe that surely God is on their side and that surely it is God who whispers in their ears. Then, with great fervor, these supposed Muslims, Christians, or others lead themselves and their fellow humanity (whether their "enemies" or thousands of Syrian refugees) into the Abyss. They do not pursue the miraculous. They choose the easy way of terror and violence (coercion) instead of the narrow, disciplined path of reasoning with each other like human beings and of loving one another like saints and beings of light.

Over the years, I have had many, many Muslim friend and acquaintances. I have studied Islam a bit. True Islam is about tolerance, generosity, compassion, order, intellectualism, humility, and peace. Muslims greet each other with the phrase "peace be with you." Muslims share much of the same ideals as we Western Christians and secular humanists. Through dialogue--whether through the media, arts, education, or everyday encounters--we humans, of any religious background, must pursue our ideals, must see the best potential within each other, and must bring ourselves (our interconnected selves) toward the Light to the best of our abilities.

That is just my opinion.

I lost a lot of respect for Tarantino, but then again it shouldn't be a surprise that someone whose films glorify hate and violence is also a cop hater.
