Review:

I'm a Tom Cruise fan but I think for the first time ever I just didn't like him in a role. I felt he was miscast. Not that he was bad in the role, I just think someone else would've been better and elevated the movie like he strangely couldn't. Still, the movie had a lot more problems than just him. The action wasn't very memorable at all, and the scares weren't there... the whole blue colour scheme just didn't fit very well with it and honestly even though I saw it a few days ago I can barely remember the story. I would be interested to see the Dark Universe continue, but hopefully a new director and creative team comes in and really shakes things up. I really want to see a Creature from the Black Lagoon movie. I honestly think Universal approached this series the wrong way. I get it, they want to make a billion dollars and action heavy blockbusters do that... but I feel their content with the Universal monsters was/is (I think obviously, no?) more suited for horror... and with that I think they should've had say 50 million dollar horror movies (which is still a big budget for horror movies) every October, that focused more on the scares than epic action... too bad. Though it's never too late, maybe the future of the Dark Universe will be reorganized with a smaller budget future considering the underperformance of this one. I honestly kind of hope so, this might be a blessing in disguise!

I agree, Tom Cruise is just 'too soft' in the looks. We need someone more manly. And the whole movie is just... weird?
