+ Jason Segel is great
+ a few laughs to be had
- Cameron Diaz mostly comes off as a bitch and annoying, most of her comedy doesn't work
- concept feels like we've been there done that and in a much better, more memorable way (School of Rock anyone? miles better than this, which is even more strange because this one had an R rating and could do anything it wanted)
it's just not a very funny movie thanks to Cameron Diaz not pulling the material off very well. 95% of her stuff just comes off as annoying and she creates a very unlikable, rude character. Now rude characters can definitely work in comedies, but not here. Still there are some laughs to be had in the movie and Jason Segel steals every scene he's in and is hilarious as usual (wish we could've had a lot more of him in here though). Timerlake is surprisingly fun in his silly role, but can't save the movie because so much of it relies on Diaz. In the end it's a hit and usually miss comedy that's been done better before and is unfortunately pretty damn forgettable.
