PROS:
+ fantastic first act
+ great cast who all do well
+ fun characters from the leads all the way to the supporting
+ great direction
+ those accents are awesome
+ really good soundtrack for the most part
CONS:
- dies down a bit after the first act
- never really goes anywhere that memorable or interesting after the promising first act
- De Niro's presence is pretty small considering the size of his face on the poster (and I would've liked to have seen more with him and his son, it felt just a bit lacking in terms of screen time especially in the latter parts of the movie)
- a few annoying missing pieces in the script (for example suddenly his mother is just gone from the picture after the first act. Not a mention of her nor is she ever around... it's as if she was gone but if she was and this being a movie you'd think they would've made something of it, nevermind even mentioning it in passing)
OVERALL:
It has it's flaws and could've been great or even amazing but unfortunately the second and third act just don't go anywhere that interesting and instead of evolving into something bigger the story oddly remains low key for the rest of the movie. It's not a terrible thing, just a bit unfortunate in terms of how the story ended up unfolding. Regardless, it was still an enjoyable experience. Recommended.
