Review:

PROS:

+ fantastic music, score and licensed tracks are great
+ great direction makes this movie still stay true to the original yet be it's own beast at the same time, some fantastic sequences with my personal favourite being the car crash scene
+ real good acting all around from a great cast
+ great story, dark and daring -- really quite haunting
+ the slow burn, more low key approach really works, it's all the more creepy and effective

CONS:

- it is a bit slow at times so it's not the easiest movie to just pick up and watch
- there is one sequence with the girl in the apartment where the CG utilized does bring the viewer out of the movie a bit

OVERALL:

it's a fantastic remake that manages to bring something new to the table in such a stable and interesting way. This is quite possibly the most realistic, grounded vampire movie out there and truth be told, it's a more sound, effective and entertaining film than the Swedish original. Highly recommended.
