Summer Movies anyone?
You know, I was just thinking about COOL HAND LUKE the other day. And what an inspiration it was for me, and how awesome Paul Newman (my all time favorite actor) was in it. I remember I first watched it about two or three years ago when my parents left me at the house alone for a week during the summer. It was like mid-July I think. And before they left, they brought me to the nearest Blockbuster and I rented a couple of flicks. I remember one of them was AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (which I absolutely adore to this day), and the other was COOL HAND LUKE.
So I was sitting alone in my room, watching this great, all-American classic flick that was COOL HAND LUKE. The mood seemed perfect for it. The weather outside was my all time favorite kind of weather. A summer breeze, with clouds covering the sky to the point where it looks like that there might be a slight chance of rain, but there probably won't be. I was mesmerized by COOL HAND LUKE with Newman bringing me to tears and smiles.
So when I was thinking about COOL HAND LUKE the other day, I thought to myself, "Man, that's a great summer flick." But aren't summer flicks always supposed to be like huge-ass Blockbusters that make millions of dollars????
No. Not necessarily. See, in my book, the mood of summer is relaxed and an all around good time. And COOL HAND LUKE fit perfectly in that format for me. So I ask you, my fellow film lovers, what would you guys feel hit this note perfectly. A flick that was fun, and felt like it was made to be viewed during summer? Any thoughts or recommendations?
While you think of some, I'm gonna go eat fifty hard boiled eggs in one hour. Please share your opinions. Much appreciated.
