A lot of my favorite TV shows hit a supreme level of brilliance during their third season. There's something about the third season that it seems like it's just long enough for the show runners, actors, and writers to get settled in and comfortable enough to do their very best. Some of my favorite shows with great third seasons: The Simpsons, Scrubs, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and while I wouldn't call it one of my favorite shows anymore, the third season of Lost is still my favorite by far. Hoping that the third season of The Walking Dead can offer the same level of brilliance.

Did anyone read the NY Times piece on Lindsay Lohan and The Canyons?--If not, do yourself a favor and check it out. It's a riveting read about what directing her is really like.

Is it that I'm getting older, or are the Oscars really getting more disappointing each year?

They were way worse last year.

They are getting more disappointing each year. Lincoln is so overrated!!!! They snub more and more each year!!

I can't wait to see the clean edited-for-daytime-TV version of Fifty Shades of Grey.

"We're making it NC-17" why don't they just make it a porno? I guess it's the same thing, except now women everywhere will feel better and less ashamed about buying the DVD... just like they did with the books

Just keep it in the porn area. Only way to be faithful

I enjoyed the hell out of Django Unchained, but I think I will be putting myself in the minority in saying that I did not enjoy it as much as Inglourious Basterds or certainly not as much as Kill Bill.

I thought it was better than Basterds easily, but not sure if it's better than Kill Bill... take out Waltz and KB is easily better than Django I think though

It hadn't occurred to me before how specifically I gravitate toward superheroes. When I was in middle school and got picked on a lot, I read a lot of Spider-Man and X-Men. Now, I see a lot of injustice that I want to see made right, and I read a lot of Batman. I feel so corny all of a sudden.

Hey Walkaway and JohnLocke2342, how was The Hobbit?
WalkAway
WalkAway at 08:34 AM Jan 07

It was SO GOOD! I loved every second of it. JL did a review if you want to read it: http://houseofgeekery.com/2012/12/15/the-hobbit-an-unexpected-journey-review/

^ aw thanks

I loved it as well man, I really did. It brought back the same atmosphere and tone of the first trilogy but expanded on the universe with a straight-forward adventure tale. It was basically a pitch-perfect adaptation of the novel and the return trip I've been wanting to Middle-Earth for years.. my favorite movie of the year.

That's exactly what I hoped to hear. I know some people have not been crazy about it, but as the resident MFC Tolkien aficionados, your opinions were the ones I was most curious about. I'm looking forward to finally seeing it!

I usually don't get terribly emotional over fictional characters, but holy hell the end of the fourth season of The Wire really tore me up.

The best season of that series imo. Just great

I would agree. As much as I loved season 3, it felt like season 3 was really prepping you for season 4. Just unbelievably good.

Goddammit. I have a lot of work I need to do, but I also have to fight my way through Arkham City. Priorities are with money or with Batman. Hmmmm.......

Oh those Mighty Max's! All over the house and damn it hurt to step on them bare footed. ;) My boys LOVED them, and had so many. Ages 25 and 22 now, so around same age range.

@Derek237 It's the same guy who voiced Wacko from Animaniacs and Arthur from The Tick. I think his name is Rob Paulsen.
