Wow I actually enjoyed THE THING (2011). Who knew.
AWFUL movie. It completely craps on what the original stood for. Paranoia? Gone. The Thing is no longer just trying to survive but now for some reason he's a slasher killer wandering the halls looking for people to kill. Acting? Atrocious. Effects? I think my eyes bled. It just completely abandons the isolation and tone that made the original so great. It's an insult to film and to horror fans.
CHRONICLE was a lot of fun. Much better then I thought it was going to be. Found footage film with character development!
REMAKES
Like most people I have a problem with remakes. I don't mind the idea of remakes because some can be fun and rewarding (Fright Night, Let Me In, Cape Fear, Texas Chainsaw). My beef with remakes is that were not going back far enough. Are these movies from the 70's, 80's, and even 90's so outdated that they need a remake. No. I don't know about you but I still love and watch A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE THING, EVIL DEAD, BLACK CHRISTMAS, HALLOWEEN etc..
I think if hollywood is going to throw out remakes why not pick films from the 30's or 40's. Movies that a mass audience doesn't know about. I think it would be great to see a remake of THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI or METROPOLIS. I'm sick of seeing movies being remade from the 80's-2000's. Go back further hollywood. That's all I have to say about that. Call me crazy
Chillin'EACTLY, there are a ton of older movies that no one has ever heard of, they have good stories which could be given a modern twist, like some Hammer Horror films, some are laughably bad now but you could do some cool shit with them now.
Because the older films don't have a built-in audience. The reason why the barrage of remakes and reboots being churned out are from the 80's - 90's is because they already have an existing fanbase, and the general audience has either seen the original property or are at the very least familiar with it. FW Murnau's Last Laugh most likely won't get a remake treatment from Hollywood. Citizen Kane probably would though.
LION KING has one of the best openings ever! Just sayin'
The finger is being pointed at us in this article so why not read it. Do you agree with some of these???
I think it's a good article, but being said, there are some things i agree and some i dont agree with.
"..no 3D film has ever been anything but a diminished visual experience."
Hugo. Point invalid.
Bay is not awesome but he's not bad either. I still like Johnny. Other than those two points I wholeheartedly agree with everything.
Finally signed up for Netflix. My life is over
I need help with a purchase. Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3???
Let me throw this out there too: my roommate has MW2, so does MW3 have such a different multiplayer that I should buy it? Or should I buy Battlefield 3 + continue multiplayer on MW2?
From what I've heard, the multiplayer in MW3 is very similar to the one in MW2. I say buy BF3 +continue multiplayer on MW2.
Watched TRANSFORMERS 3 for the second time and I must say the first half of the movie is garbage but damn if the last hour is intense as hell
Gotta love Viggo

Going movie shopping today. Any suggestions? Let em fly
I ended up getting WARRIOR, FRIGHT NIGHT (2011), AND TRANSFORMERS 3 on Blu-ray
Saw Mission Impossible 4 last night and I must say I was pretty disappointed. Some parts were really cool but overall I thought it was meh. The 3rd one is still my favorite
Yeah I had issues with the new one. I still enjoyed it, it was a fun flick. I just thought it was okay. It didn't blow me away. The 3rd one is definitely the best. Phillip Seymor Hoffman was an awesome villain.
i have to view M:I3 as i've heard awesome things about it and haven't seen it, but i sincerely loved M:I4. I thought it was a fun time. Sorry it didn't meet up with your expectations though.
I hated the first Mission:Impossible just for it's Character Assassination of Jim Phelps as a fan of the T.V show this was unforgivable.I had high hopes for 2 since John Woo was directing but it was frankly Ordinary and continued like M:I1 to focus on Cruise and not the team which for me some of the appeal of the Television Show.
I gave the Series one more shot with M:I3 and I was rewarded with a great film and as you said an Awesome villain and a film for me which was closer to the original shows concept.
Which brings me to 4 and why I loved it. This is a movie version of the show I loved more than the rest, its a team effect that saves the day and I enjoyed every minute of it.As a film is it as good as 3,a re-watch of both in 3 or 4 months will decide until then I will say the films are on par.
Just got done watching FRIGHT NIGHT(2011). I loved it
Unless Girl with the dragon tattoo or War Horse change my mind, Moneyball is still my personal favorite of the year.
It's still mine too.
But, I'm hoping THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO might be able to change that...
I wonder if he gave it a Santa suit, than people would assume it was decoration?

So much fun! :D You'll love it!
