Saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes this afternoon. Really enjoyed it. Not as good as Rise though.

A new Lego Batman game is on the way. YES! :)
Cochise at 07:45 AM May 27

nice, I picked up the LOTR one a few weeks back, still have to crack it open but looks like it would be super fun to play with some couch co-op! Wonder if the new one will be like the last one, open world and featuring Superman and the other DC heroes?

Anakin at 07:54 AM May 27

The answer is yes. It is. hahha

Cochise at 08:23 AM May 27

haha, cool

I got Into Darkness on Blu Ray. Haven't seen it since the cinema. Disappointed but granted it's not a 'bad' film. Lets see what a rewatch brings. Sometimes a little distance can be a good thing.
Cochise at 08:56 AM May 26

agreed. Several times I've been disappointed by a movie initially, quite put off by it even, but after some time or a couple more viewings I've warmed up to some for sure, hope that happens for you with this one!

Anakin at 01:41 PM May 26

Yeah the distance was good. I really had fun this time out. I think going into it knowing all the little 'twists' it was going to pull made for a more enjoyable flick.

Days of Future Past ....

So I saw it over the weekend. Looking back it reads like I hated the film and honestly I didn't. I was disappointed. I can't lie about that.

What I loved (LOVED) was everything set in the future. The look, the action, the pace, the suspense. The film starts with a massive bang. Hooks you right away.

The issues for me set in once the film shifted to the 70's. It was like someone hit the breaks. The film just came to a stand still. The stakes are right there. They have to prevent the future but no one seems bothered. haha. It felt like the film was just moving from one scene to the next with no real rhythm. The climax was weak. The 70's set section anyway. It just ended so abruptly.

Other stuff that didn't gel with me were the characters. Mystique is awesome but I feel like they're getting lazy with her now. We see her used in situations we've seen in films gone by. Nothing new. Same with Magneto. Most of his stuff felt like call backs to X2. They got rid off his boss theme music too. Wolverine. He's just there. Along for the ride. Beast seems lost. Don't get me wrong acting wise everyone was great but there was just nothing that gripped me in those scenes. Also, Blink, Sunspot, Warpath and Bishop. I know. The cast was massive but would it have killed Singer to throw in some interaction between them, some dialogue exchanges that gave a hint to their personalities beyond the most bland "Look out!" action movie dialogue ever? Poor Havoc, he's not even referred to by name in his short scenes hahah it's like "Oh it's only one of the guys from First Class, no one cares about him!"

On the flip side I appreciated the two plights the movie set up. The larger scale of preventing a horrendous future and the low scale saving of a young woman's soul with Mystique. The new characters in the future are used great and their powers are boss. The Sentinels looked amazin and those cameos at the end were not only great but warranted. Also Quicksilver. Great new character.

So no...I didn't hate it. I'm still beyond excited for Apocalypse but maybe next time flesh folk out a little more....and move Wolverine, Mystique, Professor X and Magneto to the side. Give 'em time to breath. Let us miss them. There's a MASSIVE cast of characters the films have to this date hardly touched upon. Let some of the other mutants step up and be the focus for a change.

Mood: Chillin'

Cochise at 08:37 AM May 26

I'll have to brace myself for it to hit the brakes! lol. Really looking forward to the future stuff more than anything over here like it seems you were too man. Good to hear about Quicksilver!

You review here is spot on...there are so many ways to pick this movie apart and so many ways to enjoy it too. I agree they need to showcase the other characters more...I think Wolverine (though I like him) has been used too much as the forefront character..but I will say this..Bryan Singer using a bunch of characters is better then when Brett Ratner did in X-Men: Last Stand.

Anakin at 08:50 AM May 26

^Cheers mate cause the way everyone is raving about it I felt like I was loosing my mind haha. As I point out there are good things about the movie.

Hitting the True Movie channel at 7. I'm addicted to these TV movies lately. ADDICTED.
timmyd at 12:14 PM May 25

ha. have fun.

I went back to From Dusk Till Dawn the show and I'm glad I did. Finished season one. Once you get past all the film stuff it does more than enough to set itself apart by the end of the season. Great effects and a shockingly strong mythology for the show. I'll be watching season 2. Okay it's not Breaking Bad, haha, but it's a damn fun entertaining show.
timmyd at 08:37 AM May 25

I've yet to catch any of it.

Anakin at 09:09 AM May 25

The first half is hard going because you will have seen most of it done better in the movie BUT once you get to the club it's done enough to set itself apart. Defo worth a watch.

You know who is really good in Days of Future Past and honestly it took me by surprise but Ellen Page as Kitty gets some great stuff to work with in a limited but vital role. It's little things like that which makes me think FOX could be throwing in the towel a bit too early with this idea of following The First Class cast and I have to be honest I don't think there's anything set in stone yet regarding all these supposed spin off's from X-Force right through to a straight up X-Men 4.
Cochise at 04:01 PM May 24

that's great to hear, love Ellen Page. As stoked as I am for DOFP and Apocalypse I would loooooooove to see X-Men 4 more than anything really

Days of Future Past started great and ended good. Everything in between was shocking. I was quite bored and couldn't quite believe it. Overall I was disappointed. Sorry folks. Performance wise everyone was strong. That's all I got.
Anakin at 02:04 PM May 24

Yeah mate I loved those cameos. I KNEW they'd be in it (in my gut, didn't read any spoilers). I knew from the get go. So even though it wasn't a shock I was made up :). As for the other stuff, no one is more disappointed than me. Nothing engaged me. Felt like very little urgency. I was a bit gutted tbh matey. ANYHOO haha least everyone else seems to love it.

JohnLocke2342 at 02:08 PM May 24

It fucking kills me that you didn't like it almost as much as it gutted you haha, I'm sorry man. I hope they can make up for it with Apocalypse and if that post credits scene is any indication than they're following pretty closely to his comic-book storyline.

Maybe we'll even get a proper Psylocke as the studio saying "we're sorry Anakin, please forgive us" haha.. Hopefully.

Anakin at 02:13 PM May 24

I'm not sure I want Psylocke in these films now hahaha. I'd be too scared for her! Basically if you're not Mystique, Magneto, Pro X or Wolverine there's nothing down for you!

As always I shall remain positive and hope for the best haha

Off to see Days of Future Past today. There are two specific mutants who just HAVE to make an appearance, I've stayed spoiler free so I'm hoping to leave with a grin on my face. They have never been confirmed but I'm convinced they're in it.
andyfilm_1 at 02:15 AM May 24

Enjoy mate!

zombie_bro at 04:02 AM May 24

Which 2 do you hope to see?

Anakin at 08:45 AM May 24

I can't say who Nick! It would ruin the entire movie hahaha.

Bravo Arrow. That's how you pull off a season finale. Thoughts and spoilers in the comments.
Anakin at 01:53 PM May 22

Loved that they kept Wade alive. He was more than just a 'bad' guy. Felicity and Oliver and the scene in the mansion was so sad. Poor Felicity. Loved that they kept Sara alive :) HATED what they did with Summer Glau. What a lame way to wrap up the character. The action was sooooo good. Overall just boss.

Call of Duty Ghosts is a great game. Brought tons of new gameplay styles to the series and most of all it was a lot of fun. The game is jam packed too. So many options once you go online.
Cochise at 12:17 PM May 23

sometimes I look like an idiot online, I get so amused with sliding around, sometimes doing it in... not the most opportune times haha

My friend lent me 12 Years A Slave. Powerful stuff. Not an easy watch at all.
JohnLocke2342 at 01:36 PM May 21

Absolutely powerful.. heartbreaking, raw and beautifully uplifting all at once.

grelber37 at 02:48 PM May 21

Yes, 12 Years a Slave haunts you a bit after viewing. But, that is a good thing. Be sure to share your thoughts after collecting them.

Anakin at 11:09 AM May 20

I hope so :( I was traumed they never had it. I may get lucky tomorrow. Maybe.

HTX0811 at 11:40 AM May 20

Have you heard of this place called Amazon? I heard they're really good with having movies there. lol. No, I've been through this more than I want to, even recently. It's really annoying when it happens. Hopefully, you find a copy soon.

Anakin at 01:51 PM May 20

I did! haha. Thing is it's randomly still quite expensive on Amazon UK. My local store has it for a lot cheaper.
