I was nervous going to see this. I enjoyed the book(s) but I'd heard the film was employing some tricky cam techniques to avoid the violence. Having seen it and the ultra real appraoch it took to said violence I can see why they've done it and agree with it.
This is a film about kids killing kids. You don't wanna see a tiny eleven year old getting hacked up in a nice steady shot. The moment the games begin it's just like 'oh shit this is real' and it's quite unnerving. I wasn't expecting it to have that sort of impact.
Hunger Games was unfairly compared to another flick with a similar plot which I'm not even going to mention. They are two totally different films. That later flick can also claim to have been influenced by many others which came before it so the idea of comparing it to Hunger Games is invalid.
The film is shot well. I knew it would be. The director has some solid flicks under his belt and he handled the action well. The actors are great across the board. I read some comments about the chemistry between Peeta and Katniss as lacking. That's missing the point. The Hunger Games is not a love story. Their relationship is very complicated and I felt the film nailed it.
If your still on the fence it's time to come down and get yourself off to the cinema to see this ASAP. Then hit yourself on the back of the head for even thinking this was gonna be some Twilight-like sap. Welcome to the Hunger Games. Things are gonna get very dark and very brutal from here on out. Enjoy the ride and trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet. Just wait for the sequels!
* image below is not taken from the film but I thought it'd be nice to see the gang all friendly and happy. You know..before they start killing one another.

I know right? Soon as I saw that image I was like I have to use it for the review. HAHA, it should be the poster.

Funny how the image could easily be a promo still from a WB teen drama.
Awesome review dude I really enjoyed the movie too.
