Future Jurassic Park movies
I have always said I could watch several films based in the JP universe. The options are litmitless. If they ever get around to making another JP movie here are a few things I'd like to see.
Take the film off the island - For nostalgic reasons I'm all for visting one of the islands but I'd like to see the majority of the film take place in a new setting.
Up the terror - The raptors are terrifying. Predators in every sense of the word. I'd love to see these guys let loose in a populated area. Or even as biological weapons.
Bring back the original cast - Malcom, Elle, Tim, Lex etc. I think a interesting plot would be to follow an adult Tim and Lex, maybe getting involved with a rival company and attempting to stop them exploiting the bio engineering.
Re-establish the T-Rex as the main predator- I love JP3 but I felt they messed up by having that new dino take out the T-Rex.
Less is more - JP3 is the strongest out of the sequels. The story is scaled back and it works as lean little thrill ride. I'd like a similar film with JP4. Maybe the dino's have to be transpored. The film could take place on a boat or a isolated containment site and all hell breaks loose when they escape.
Some new beasts - More and more dino's have been discovered since the last film was released. Let's see some of them up there on the screen.
A cool water set piece -I'll never forget in the book there's this scene where Grant, Tim and Lex are on a raft in the middle of a great lake and then out of nowhere the T-Rext errupts out of the water and attacks. Scared the shit out of me when I first read it.
Don't make it goofy or try to hard to be different - The strength of JP lies within whats already been established. I don't wanna see the dino's being used in modern warfare or some shit like that. Really hope the film goes back to basics and stays as true to the core idea of a species being out time in a strange and crazy modern world.
JP 4 has been rumored for years. Last I heard they were set to go with Laura Dern being the major returning cast member. I guess things have changed since then. Now with the Blu Ray release I hope Universal decides to pull it's finger out and get some top talent togther and really start thinking about making JP4 a reality.
It's so important the new film is a sequel and not a reboot. If you think about it, it could be set in real time. Over ten years have passed since JP3, almost 20 since the first film. What would be the implications of that in the film world? Scientists may have been able to develop cures for anything from the prehistoric life or even unleash somthing with drastic consequences. Here's hoping everything falls into place and we get a brilliant sequel sooner rather than later. One more thing, if they do decide to use Tim and Lex, for God's sake don't recast. I don't wanna see Shia or Knightley running around as those guys just because they are big names. Bring back the original actors!
Chillin'Is JP3 really a stronger sequel than The Lost World though? JP III was full of campy and corny scenes as well as failed attempts at humor.. the new dinosaur designs were too colorful and bright to be taken seriously and they killed off the t-rex in the first 25 minutes.
The Lost World has it's weak elements as well, especially the Kelly character and the focus on saving the dinosaurs from harm... both are about even in my eyes (even though I can tolerate the 2nd more than the 3rd).
I agree with most of your points, especially the less is more idea and the inclusion of older cast members. I don't know why they can't just have a sequel revolve around a return trip to the original island to get the canister of dinosaur embryos.. maybe they need Grant or Malcolm to "guide them" on the island and boom- problem solved.
I just read on the films IMDB news feed page a interview Dern did with Latino Review. As of this month, far as she knows her character is still heavily involved in the new script! So that's cool.
@JohnLocke2342 I think the issues I had with Lost World (I use the term loosely - I like the film a lot) was how it didn't really play out like the Lost World book. I know the first film differed from the book a bit but with Lost World the tone of second book was pretty bleak and laid down a good story but I just felt Speilberg didn't wanna go dark. JP3 was just a nice surprise. I think every one assumed it would be shit and it was anything but. Sure, it's got issues but for me it just beats Lost World as my faves out of the sequels as the stronger all around film.
@ironfist66 Cheers mate!
@horrorfan23 Yeah! Somthing along those lines would be great!
I'd like that to but I can't see Neil coming back. I'm sure he said he was done with it after JP3. Then again, never say never.

I want to see scenes involving sea dinosaurs. That would be very cool like how they had the pterodactyl scene in Jurassic Park 3.
