Generations was basically the transition from the first crew of the Enterprise to the that of The Next Generation. A smooth transition it is too. The opening establishes that a space event leaves Kirk presumed KIA. Jump ahead 80 years where Picard and his crew come face to face with the same event.
First off it's a hoot seeing Kirk and Picard team up to take down the bad guy and save the day. Kirk gets plenty to do and as far as send off's go it's bitter sweet. All good things must come to an end. Picard firmly cements himself as the new anchor of the series and does so effortlessly. He's his own man and the stronger for it.
I loved the idea of the nexus (the space event) being this gateway to a world of utter bliss. Honestly why would anyone leave that place? One thing that bugged me was Data and his emotion chip. That shit got old real quick and he was WAY annoying. Thankfully he pulls it in a bit.
A great beginning to a new chapter in Trek.

from what I read he's been talking like he's getting the inside word... which gives me hope he and Goldblum are included, but I'm doubtful about that unfortunately... I'm down for a reboot, but I'd prefer a total reboot rather than Jurassic Park '4' acting as a reboot. More than anything I just want to see Goldblum against dinos one more time
"I'm told it's a big reboot, a total rejig," - Sam Neill
either he made that up (don't see why he would) or someone on the inside actually told him that lol but you are right usually the cast don't know anything, bigger and more connected stars do get more info sometimes though. I mean Spielberg probably told him that personally while they were on Stevie's yacht sippin martinis and smokin fat cigars =p
Fun drinking game : Take a shot every time you come across "this message has been deleted by administrator".
I've tried scrolling down and it just gets more horrible like spelunking in The Descent-
I was expecting it to happen to someone in past and present, I was still sad to see who it was in the latter.
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It should have been Thea or Laurel (I don't care who they become the females on this show save Felicity are written horribly and given nothing to do but be love interests)
I think there are some bonus features on the standalone Blu-ray that aren't included with the season set, and vice-versa.
I know, total money ploy!
^Erm yeah haha totally. I guess it's a decent stand alone if your not into the shows though.
As for TNG, too many great episodes to name. Some of the more standout ones I'd say:
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father + Redemption Part I & II
Chain of Command Part I & II
The Measure of a Man
The Defector
Cause & Effect
Frame of Mind
Timescape
Phantasms
Parallels
And just about any Q episode. The last episode too of course, perhaps the best series finale of any TV show I've seen.

Thankfully the original crew of the Enterprise go out on a high note. This proved to be the final mission of the original crew and it's a strong entry in the series.
It plays out like a thriller/political/sci-fi in which the Federation and the Klingons are on the verge of peace. Of course not everyone wants this and Kirk and McCoy are set up and accused of attempting to murder the peace ambassador's. It's up to the crew to clear their Captain's name and uncover the truth.
It's well paced and there's a nice sense of finality about the whole thing when it comes to a close. I guess the only draw back was it could have spent a little more time exploring the Klingon culture and what exactly was at stake if it were to be lost.
Nothing ground-breaking in terms of what the series has to offer but a solid entry and worthy send off.
Also, Kim Cattral with Vulcan ears.

This and WoK showed that Nich Meyer really knew what he was doing with Trek. If J.J. doesn't come back, they should try to get him to do the next one...

Yeah...this one just wasn't as good as the others. Basically Spock's brother (!) shows up out of nowhere and starts converting people to this cult of his. Their goal is to find "heaven" and meet their maker. To do this they take control of the Enterprise.
The story is good and in theory should have worked amazingly for such is the ideals in the series. Sadly it's all a bit clumpy. There are some good moments with the cast though, seriously it's always cool to just hang out with these guys but this just isn't that good when compared to the rest of the series.
A great idea but lacking in execution.

Your review is the truth. The Final Frontier has its amusing and amazing moments. But, the movie mostly does not live up to its potential. God should be much, much more interesting in a Star Trek film. Just consider the lively philosophical discussions that followers of science and of religion have in our times. Such discourse could have underlaid the movie's plot.
You are much kinder to this one than I.
The best thing about destroying Vulcan, Sybok most likely never survived which pretty much renders this movie non-existent haha.
I think it's just as powerful if not a little less powerful than the PS4. I don't know what all these chips and processors and abbreviations mean haha but from the article I read they're pretty much the same power wise. I don't know I still haven't seen anything I've liked about this new Xbox... TV? don't care, already have it (lol). Voice control? would never use it. Switch the inputs for me? Wowwww... yeah, big whoop. Use your tablet and smartphone with the console? Ugh.
I missed the broadcast earlier but what I've been reading up on it sounds like there wasn't much to talk about game-wise :/. I need try and find a rebroadcast.

Haters and the heartless to the left and into the cage please. I love this one. LOVE it. A fun film. After the heavy issues of part 2 and 3 we get a somewhat environmental themed adventure which is still rooted in some clever sci-fi.
The cast seem to have a ball mixing in Starfleet with San Fran '86. Highlights being McCoy's disgust at the hospital conditions (which are still pretty shitty in 2013 tbh) and a hysterical scene in which Chekov is asking civilians where he can find nuclear power! Just a lot of fun time travel titbits which work and overall probably one of the most fun adventures of the series.
The stuff with the whales is great and sad and I think fair play to the film makers for using a brand like Star Trek to hit home a message. I think in many ways this one highlights everything that's great about Star Trek. If you hate it then I guess ...you never really got what the ideas in the show were about to begin with.
It's also got Andy's mum from Child's Play.

nice review man, honestly I haven't seen any of the old Trek movies, Shatner or Stewart... only seen Nemesis which I did enjoy though I know some didn't. Which ones are your favourites aside from this one?
Hmm....I haven't seen the original ones since I was like a kid. A little kid haha. I love all the Next Generation ones though. Generations and First Contact are boss.
