I loved how the characters consider each one's particular lifestyle is savaging. It's ironically funny, and love the undertone humor Stone makes in the film.
What kills me is that the only reason I dig the original so much is because it's so ridiculous. The story is interesting but the execution is overdone in every possible way. I mean I was shocked with how gory and mean-spirited it was. And no matter how decent the remake is there's no way that it's ever going to be any of those things because it got slapped with a PG-13 and with the guy whose flicks are only liked because Kate Beckinsale is (shocker) crazy hot in leather.
Although I'll bet that Colin Farrell is the only good thing about the remake. His work lately has been fantastic. In Bruges is one of my favorite flicks from the last few years.
Another talented , sexy Cast , in an impossible project . This reminds me of '' PSYCHO '' ( not that I'M comparing the two original films on the same level ) , HECHE , MORTENSEN , MACY , VAUGHN , MOORE , doomed from the outset because there was no fucking point . WHY MAKE THE FILM ???
Everything about this movie rubbed me the wrong way. I hated that it all looked like was shot on sets and greenscreen soundstages, I hated the music, I hated the goofy characatures(sp?) of every adult in the movie (espeicially Cohen), I hated the stupid love story between the shop propriaters, and I hated that it flt like a fantasy movie... without a single once of fantasy in it. Fuck that movie. Oh--and I really hate that everyone busts a nut over this thing when it's simply not ALL THAT.
I saw only part of it for a class I took, and it was heartbreaking from what I saw.
I concur. That it's a piece of shit. That little kid's narration was ghastly. About the only good thing about it was the creepy main kid and Malachi. The rest was crap.
I remember watching that as a kid...
That's all. Seriously. I remember sitting down to watch it and not much else.

I like all imposters. That said, I haven't seen the movie.
