Review:

Remember how much carnage there was back in Fast Five? Well, we got some more carnage to behold here, though to be honest, despite all the great sequences Justin Lin set up in this instalment, none of them surpass the vault dragging finale of Fast Five...[more]...

Star Trek Into Darkness

Star-trek-poster

Directed by: -1
Written by:
Cast:
Studio: Paramount Pictures
Genre: Action, Science-Fiction

Plot: The crew of the Enterprise are sent on a mission to capture terrorist John Harrison who has made several attacks on Starfleet. However they discover he's more than just a terrorist when they catch up to him.

Review:

J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot was one of the best things to ever happen to the long standing franchise. He gave the adventures of Kirk, Spock and company a new lease of life, and made it more accessible to non sci-fi audiences as well...[more]...

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo-poster2

Written by: Steve Zaillian
Cast: Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgard, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik
Studio: Sony Pictures
Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Official Site: www.dragontattoo.com
Plot: A disgraced journalist teams up with a computer hacker to investigate the disappearance of a rich man's grandniece 40 years ago.

Review:

I had been looking forward to this film for a while now. I haven't read the book, so I can't say how faithful David Fincher's adaptation really is, but it's clear that he tried his best to put in as much from the book as he could. In fact, it felt like he tried to put in everything and as a result, the film moves really fast until at times it felt like the potential emotional impact from certain scenes were lost...[more]...

Plot: A former preacher turned exorcist turned possession debunker takes a film crew with him to perform a fake exorcism on a girl who thinks she is possessed, but they get more than they bargained for.

Review:

The gist: This is yet another horror flick that utilises the found footage method, and for the most part it does decent enough...[more]...

I don't mind the ending actually . But the re-watch value really goes out the window because of it . Good job .

The Blair Witch Project

1999-poster-blair_witch_project-1

Directed by: Eduardo Sanchez, Daniel Myrick
Written by: Eduardo Sanchez, Daniel Myrick
Cast: Heather Donahue, Michael Williams, Joshua Leonard, Bob Griffith, Jim King, Sandra Sanchez
Studio: Artisan Entertainment
Genre: Horror
Official Site: http://www.blairwitch.com/
Plot: Three film students get lost in the woods while trying to film a documentary. This is their footage.

Review:

The gist: The Blair Witch Project is probably the first film to utilize the 'found footage' method of horror. Directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, as well as the three kids playing the lost students do a splendid job making things as spontaneous as possible, thereby making the film feel very real...[more]...

Iron Man 3

Ironman3-imaxpost

Directed by: -1
Written by:
Cast:
Studio: Marvel Studios
Genre: Action, Comic Book
Official Site: www.IronManMovie3.com
Plot: After the events that took place in The Avengers, Tony Stark has a personal crisis which quickly escalates when he takes on two threats from an old acquaintance and a terrorist known as The Mandarin.

Review:

Iron Man part three will go down as being the most different of the trilogy so far. Heck, it's not even in the vein of last year's Avengers blow up fest. So if you walk into this expecting a slam bang actioner, you're not going to like it that much...[more]...

Broken City

Broken-city-poster

Directed by: -1
Written by:
Cast:
Studio: Fox
Genre: Action, Thriller
Official Site: www.brokencitymovie.com
Plot: Former cop turned private detective Billy Taggart is hired by New York City mayor Nicholas Hostetler to spy on his wife, whom he thinks is having an affair. However nothing is what it seems.

Review:

There have been thrillers where what you see isn't really what's going on, like The Recruit and the recent Side Effects. Broken City is in that same vein, but unfortunately doesn't quite measure up...[more]...

nice review... this one sounded so cool in concept (or well, the cast at least) but the trailers looked so mediocre/average... I heard this script was actually one of those 'black list' or whatever scripts for the longest time though. Just goes to show you haha

For those of you being on the fence about watching Oblivion, I say go see it. 99% of the time you can't go wrong with Tom Cruise, and the visuals here are just gorgeous. The soundtrack is great too, especially the one playing during the closing credits.
brewsky99
brewsky99 at 06:06 PM Apr 19

a decent watch,Cruise is solid as usual, thou a gritter actor in the lead would of given the film a lift that I thought the film needed to make it close to a classic which this film will never be.but in saying that the film is better than a lot of the big budget crap out there.

Oblivion

Oblivion-poster1

Directed by: -1
Written by:
Cast:
Studio: Universal
Genre: Action, Adventure, Science-Fiction
Official Site: www.oblivionmovie.com
Plot: In the future, Earth has become a wasteland after a war between humans and invading aliens destroyed the planet. Most of them have moved to Titan, Saturn's moon. Jack and Victoria are two people still on Earth, fixing drones and helping machines collect whatever resources there are left before leaving to join the rest of their people. However, a falling ship carrying survivors forces Jack to question the truth about what really happened to the planet.

Review:

There have been many post-apocalyptic films and series over the years, so many that it would be impossible to come up with a completely fresh idea that taps into this genre. Oblivion comes pretty close to being fresh, and that's a good thing...[more]...

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Gi-joe-retaliation-international-poster

Directed by: -1
Written by:
Cast:
Studio: Paramount
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comic Book
Official Site: www.gijoemovie.com
Plot: The President, under the impersonation of Zartan, orders the G.I Joes terminated and puts Cobra in their place. With only a handful of their number left, the Joes have to regroup and stop Cobra from destroying the world.

Review:

A lot of people hated the first G.I. Joe film. With Stephen Sommers at the helm, it's to be expected, after all he is pretty good at hamming things up. The thing is, I thought it was pretty fun to watch. Yes, it was over the top and the dialogue was cheesy to a fault. But it was fun and well shot...[more]...

Nice review dude, I enjoyed the Rise of Cobra too, and actually prefer it to this movie the more I think about it. Still I thought this one was decent, I give it a 5/10 as well. A decent watch but some flaws held it back for me. Still it had its moments and the 3D actually bumps its enjoyment factor up a point to a 6/10 for me. I do have to disagree on the Tatum/Rock thing, I actually thought that was the best part about this movie aside from the mountain chase and wished there was a whole lot more of it

I enjoyed the hell out of it, I hated Rise of Cobra, as a big time GIJoe fan as a kid this one gave me everything I was looking for plus you know... explosions and stuff

Side Effects

Cast:
Studio: Open Road Films
Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Official Site:
Plot: A psychiatrist finds himself in hot water after one of his patients, a depressed woman, commits a crime as a result of side effects from a drug he prescribed to her.

Review:

Steven Soderbergh is a unique filmmaker who knows how to make a point without being over the top or flashy. You could almost say he has a somewhat quiet and subtle way of doing things...[more]...
