That new Spider-Man trailer officially did it for me. I wanted to see it, but wasn't pumped for it...well consider me PUMPED! I'm saying it now Andrew Garfield, a personal favorite of mine, will ROCK as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I like how the film seems less cheesy than Raimi's version, but also seems to have humour and Emma Stone was her usual cute self and I think she'll be a fantastic love interest.

I know what you mean. His films, while I DO like them (well the first two), are a bit too cheesy for my taste. I like humor in my films, but I'm not a fan of "cheesy/campy" films.
The new episode of Skins UK was fantastic. A new character was added to the cast and I believe I'm in lust! The character of Alex, played by newcomer Sam Jackson, was quite a character. He was likable, weird, unique, strange, and a bit psycho meaning he is the typical Skins character. But I loved him! He was quite likable and was very interesting. Best of all, his character was gay, but he was written in such an uncliched way, which I very much appreciated. Sometimes I get sick of how every gay male character must be a stereotype, so it was nice to see one that wasn't like one I've ever seen before on television.
Still haven't seen the new series - I promise I'll get round it - but I think Skins make good homosexual characters, Emily and Naomi had a good storyline in the second generation and Maxxie in the first was one of the better characters.
I agree about Maxxie! I love how the show doesn't treat them as "the gay characters" like most television shows and even movies or books do. They're always just characters that just HAPPEN to be gay.
I seem to be the only who loves Generation 3 of Skins UK...can't wait for the new episode!

WTF! Those police men should be arrested!

Fucking sick. Not only were they arrested for something they never started but to be subjected to that abuse as well. Fuck those bigots.
Sloths are one of my favorite animals, so to be honest if I met one, I'd probably have the same reaction as Kristen Bell
My friends had a super bowl party tonight...I ended up in the kitchen with the women ^__^ It was a blast :P
To finish off my Period Drama kick, onto one of my favorite films, the new version of Jane Eyre :)
I Capture the Castle was fantastic! I loved it! Romola Garai proved once again she is a terribly underrated actress. She gave a fabulous performance and her whole family was wildly eccentric, but well developed. I grew to love the wild lot. Also Cavill was great in his small, but memorable role, making me fall in love with him. The film was beautiful to look at with a likable and relatable protagonist. Flaws: Cavill's character was underused and I couldn't help but wish Cassandra ended up with him, but then that'd ruin part of the plot :P Other than that though I felt Blucas was miscasted as Neil. His performance just didn't ring true to me. He was the weak link acting wise. Verdict: 8/10
She was good, but her character got on my nerves at times. I always disliked the characters who married specifically for money, but she won me over in the end, and I thought Byrne was quite good. There were moments where I thought she may be overacting, but it honestly worked for her "overdramatic" character :)
Blucas was the only performer in the film who didn't fit in my opinion. Henry Thomas was okay, but Blucas I think should have been recast.
Hey Oscars, Romola Garai is LONG OVERDUE for an Academy Award nomination!
I first saw her in Dirty Dancing 2 (the movie is better than people give it credit for in my opinion) and then grew to love her in another underrated film: Rory O' Shea Was Here (which starred a pre-fame James McAvoy).
I love Rory O' Shea Was Here! I found it at Big Lots once and it caught me by surprise. FYI, if you ever want to find obscure English movies at a low price, Big Lots is a great place to go.
Absentia proves that Indie horror is where it's at yet again. The film is a slow-burn creepy/eerie film with some nice suspense and two very likable characters who seemed like real sisters. Both women gave very real/sympathetic performances, especially Katie Parker as Callie who was fantastic. The film was well shot had a great score that was as creepy as the film is. I will say though, the film could have been a bit scarier. Eerie, yes, but it wasn't exactly terrifying. Then there was a cop whose non-stop gum chewing acting got on my nerves. But my biggest flaw would be the ending. It's not bad...but I'm on the fence with how the film ended. I don't know what I wanted, but maybe it just needs a re-watch. Overall, a very good spooky horror film done well. Verdict; 8/10
I think I need to give it a re-watch to see the ending again. Like I said, I'm still borderline on it. It wasn't a bad ending, but I think I was just expecting the film to go one way, and it didn't so it surprised me...which is actually quite good! Every time something new happened, I was like wait...what?!
It was nice to see a horror film and not know what was going to happen :)
I'm gonna have to check it out. I too have been turning to indie horror flicks for the entertainment value that is absent from just about all the mainstream stuff in the theaters. The whole time I can't help but wonder why these filmmakers aren't being recruited by the big studios to work their magic for a broader audience.
I'm on a period piece drama kick, so I think I'm going to watch I Capture the Castle today on netflix instant, while doing my homework :)
I schmoe told me about the film a while back, telling me I'd love it. I think it was WalkAway, but I'm not too sure...so I want to see it today :)
Erico, I love that show ^__^
Ahhh yesss! One of my favorites. Henry Cavill is swoon-worthy, Rose Byrne is perfection, and Romola is highly underrated
OMG!!! I agree about Romola!!! I adore the actress...and I'm sorry but she is LONG overdue for an oscar nomination :) Brilliant young actress.
and I'm only a half hour into the film, and I'm already in love with Henry Cavill :)
BBC's "mini-series" Birdsong, also based on a novel (which I must read now) was fantastic! It was a brilliantly told love story that took place during WWI, boasting fabulous lead performances from Eddie Redmayne and Clemence Poesy. The film was beautiful to look at with masterful editing, and a gorgeous musical score. The film is quite sad and reminded me a bit of Atonement in look and tone. If I have ANY flaws it's just that the film didn't focus a lot on the love story in the second half (or part 2) and towards the ending the editing got a tad annoying. But these are minor flaws to a beautiful love story. Verdict: 9/10
It's not on netflix xD It doesn't premiere in America until April...but I downloaded it online :)
I absolutely love this man!

i think he is a super talented kid and i wish he wasn't on glee. don't hate me
Would you count a miniseries as a movie or a television show? Such as BBC's Pride & Prejudice starring Colin Firth, for example.
I think it depends on the length. If it's like a 3 hour miniseries, then I consider it a movie.
Given just those two choices, if it is a 2 parter movie (Langolers, It, etc) and 3 or more TV. But I consider mini-series a thing of its own. I'm working on something for the site ranking my top single season shows and Band of Brothers and the Prisoner aren't on it because they are mini'series IMO.

The downside w/ Raimi's film projects is that "inside joke" vibe his films emit to the audience somehow..U kno?
